Chapter Thirty Seven - The plan

As I turned to face the others, I gestured for them all the sit at the table, "I will keep my end of the bargain, you told me your truths, which I do hope is all of them" I said as I raised an eyebrow, to which both Hyde and Evelyn nodded, and I turned back to look at all the table, standing at the top, my hands resting on the wood as I looked at all of them.

"Now here is what I know, Brand is a liar. He knows about the prophecy of me bringing back dragons, and the power I possess, also he is in leagues with my mother, Selene Silverback, the daughter of Hecate, wielder of the darkest of magic. If you see her, I personally would avoid her unless you want to die. Finally, he sent me to get this thing" I said as I placed the pendant I had collected a few days ago upon the table.

"Now I don't know exactly what the fuck it is, and no one here seems to know too, but Brand is expecting us back any day. I'm assuming he wants us back with you two now and the pendant?" I said as they both nodded, their eyes darting between me and Damien.

"Oh I almost forgot; Brand somehow managed to cast a spell that made me think he was my mate but actually Damien is. Any questions?" I said as everyone just stared at me,

Cyrene coughed clearing the silence as she leant forward, "Question, how will Brand not just kill you on the spot for being with Evelyn as she is now? Surely her mate would have felt her pain from when you removed it, and I presume he is on our side?" she said as Evelyn nodded,

"Even still, how do we get away with him not realising Evelyn has told you everything? And who is to know whether her mate isn't under his influence as well?" she said as I turned to the others, silently asking their opinion.

"Kill me" she said as I raised an eyebrow crossing my arms, "Well that would be a short service, you are of no use to me dead." I said dryly as she chuckled lightly,

"No, I mean you have potions and spells to make it appear as if I am dead, right? You state I found you, was chanting weird rubbish and you had to put me down as I tried to attack you." She said as I frowned looking around at the others,

I sighed as I sipped from my glass, "I would need to be injured, you would have to bite me, to prove you attacked me. We must make this one hundred percent believable. We need to stick with Brand long enough to figure out what he wants with the pendant, and what he's planning to do with Bethany. I will not risk losing her again." I said as the others looked at me.

Before I could open my mouth again Damien slammed his cup on the table as I moved my gaze to him, everyone except me flinching at the sound.

"Is there something you want to say?" I said calmly as he crossed his arms, anger and frustration pouring out of him,

"My brother is not a fool, and he's a lot stronger than you all think. We have all been tricked by him, and as for his powers, let me give you a list" he said as he stood up walking around,

"Let's start with his main one, his mind control" he said looking at Evelyn as she shivered, "You got off easy. Brand has the power to melt people's minds, send them crazy, wipe their memories completely, to crush them from within. Whatever he desires he makes his little puppets do" he said as he grabbed another drink,

"Number two, he can shapeshift, anything he wants, as well as me and Evelyn, but his potential stretches far beyond the couple of creatures Evelyn can do, and the few more I can. Anybody he desires he can inhabit, and who is to stop him turning into us to try and figure out what we know? Hmm?"

"Now the elements, the little game he made you do Hyde, pretending it was you controlling the earth, so no one knew what they were up against? How are you going to defeat someone who could split the world into two? I think you are all forgetting just how powerful an original vampire is, or what Brand is capable of."

"And you are insane if you think I am sending Lillian out there to hold him back, I'm not going to continue to risk my mate's life because we aren't enough" he said as I looked down thinking, my body tingling at his protectiveness.

"No, I do not forget that, but what about you Damien, what have you got" I said taking a deep breath as I looked around,

"I don't remember Brand being the only original left?" I replied calmly as Damien ran his hand through his hair sighing as he shook his head,

"I've already told you; I am not as strong as he is. The eldest carries more power than any within the family" he said,

"While I am to be feared from the average vampire, no offense" he said turning to Evelyn and Hyde, "If he fully unleashed on me, I wouldn't survive" he said as I slammed the table,

"Who saved Evelyn? Who was the most feared vampire that they had to be killed and locked up? Who was the name that was whispered amongst the world, that even the mention of sent people running home scared for their lives?"

"That was you Damien, and who put you there? Brand. Let's just say this for the record, if he has lied about everything else, who is to say you aren't as strong as him, or perhaps even stronger?"

"Now fucking grow up, and become the Damien I need you to be, and stop having a bitch fit in the corner" I growled as Damien narrowed his eyes at me, causing a hot flush to run through my body and I quickly turned away.

Hyde coughed and turned away as the room quickly detected my change in my body, and I rolled my eyes, Evelyn smiling wryly as she pointed at us,

"If I am to be honest, I think the main issue is this" she said looking at us, "how on earth are you two are going to convince Brand that you don't know your mates. Last time you saw Brand Lillian, you had no emotions, and if you and Damien even look at each other, the smell in the air is obvious enough, let alone the fact that Damien follows you like a shadow, the slightest movement causes him to fix all his attention to you" she said as I grimaced,

"I had already come up with a solution for that, which I'd rather not say right now" I said as I felt Damien's eyes burn a hole into me and I shifted uncomfortably,

Evelyn looked at me as I gulped rubbing my hands down my dress, "Well I've done some research and as long as Brand believes I'm still under the spell he believes that when he erm" I stuttered as I felt Damien's rage begin to grow within our bond,

I looked down as I avoided Damien's gaze, "That when he mates with me the actual bond won't occur as it's the wrong person, so if I have sex with him he will completely believe I am still under his illusion. It would be the only way to fully convince him that I don't know about Damien as the pain to both parties would be extreme if the mating process was completed with someone who was not my mate" I said quickly as the room fell deathly silent, the glass in Damien's hand smashing as no one dared to move a muscle.

"Everyone, out of the room this instant" Damien said through gritted teeth, as everyone rushed out looking at me sympathetically before the door swung shut and I was left with him, his eyes pitch black holes as I felt his rage rushing through my body like a burning fire.
