KAITLIN'S P.O.V

"What I want is for you to see what you have been oblivious to this whole time the truth within the shadows the man behind the mask the one in the shadows," Harry said.

"Look either you start making sense or I'm outta here," I said getting bored with his riddles.

"You don't get it do you," Harry said.

"Nope" I replied not caring.

"I'm a puppet who's the puppet master who's pulling the strings controlling it all from the shadows," He said getting right up to the bars.

"Whoever he is I hope he's got a book to read," I said leaving.

"Whether you like it or not time is ticking and this town will not survive"He yelled as I left.

I leave the station and call Vicky.

"Hey Kaitlin are you not able to come tonight," She said.

"No I was just wondering if this is a party or a friendly get together," I asked.

"Humm I'd say it's about 70% party and 30% get together," She said.

"Cool what time should we get there for," I said.

"Let's see I start setting up at around 5 so be there for 7 at the earliest," She said.

"Cool we'll be there," I say hanging up and rushing home.

"Hey, Chloe you here," I say opening the door to our apartment.

"I'm here," Chloe said coming out of the shower room wearing nothing but her underwear and a T-shirt.

"Cool how would you like to go to a party tonight," I said.

"A party tonight," Chloe said.

"Yep," I said smiling.

"But why tonight," Chloe said.

"Oh come on were girlfriend and girlfriend this is the kind of stuff we should be doing," I said going and hugging her arm.

"Fine" Chloe said with a small sigh.

I tell her all I know as she gets dressed and then she turns to me.

"Hey have a question," She said.

"Shoot," I said.

"When we got back from the station why did you kiss me the way you did when you hadn't forgiven me," She said.

"I told you that my feelings would not change which meant those moments between us like that one would be the same just as fun just as magical and as beautiful as always. What would change is the times when we were in the company of others" I said.

"So," Chloe said.

"So it no longer matters you are forgiven now so you can stop worrying about it," I said.

"Chloe Kaitlin what do you girls want to eat," My mum said from just outside our door.

"Oh, nothing much we'll probably just have some toast or some sandwiches," I say opening the door.

"Oh, why is that?" My mum said.

"Vicky has invited me to her party tonight and she told me to bring Chloe along," I said.

"Oh," My mum said.

"Ya so we'll be leaving at around 6:30 to get there," I said.

"Well have fun," My mum said.

I close the door and look at Chloe.

"We got the all-clear," I said smiling.

Later after our sandwiches ham and cheese for me and peanut butter and jam for Chloe we were in our room going over some clothes we could put on for Vicky's party. We both put on clothes that you would wear if you were going on a date with the perfect guy and we're trying to catch him out by looking as sexy as possible. The clock then strikes 6:30 and we grab our winter coats and leave the building.

"Brrrrr it's freezing," Chloe said.

"What did you expect it's winter," I said as we walk down the snow-covered street.

"So do you know who will be at this party" Chloe said.

"Well there are bound to be people that we both know there but there will also be others we don't I mean Vicky is able to make friends with everyone she meets she is just that kind of person," I said.

After an hour of walking we make it to Vicky's house we walk up the stone steps to her front door a moment later and she opens it and as she sees us a huge smile covers her face. she hurries us in and as we take off our coats we start to feel the full effect of the heat on the inside of the house I look around and see that some people are already here enjoying each others company. I see Sam and Sammy talking both with a drink in hand Momo, Bec and her friend Emma are chatting with a bunch of girls I don't recognise a large group of boys are having what looks like an arm-wrestling championship in the kitchen so the food has been moved into the centre of the main room. My eyes then land on someone that I hadn't expected to see for another 6 weeks her eyes then meet mine.

"Layla," I said slightly yelling.

"Kaitlin," She said also slightly yelling.

We run to each other and embrace each other in a long hug.

"You ass you've been gone for too long what kept you," I said smiling as we pulled away.

"Ya well, my college was a lot more stricter than I expected they want nothing but the best," Layla said.

"Hey, Kaitlin who is this" Chloe said walking up to me.

"Oh Chloe meet Layla, my cousin," I said.

"Hiya," Layla said.

"So what are you doing here Layla," I said.

"Well, you know me there is no way I would miss the chance to spend Christmas with my little Kaitlin," She said.

"Now hold on you have to actually be taller than me to refer to me as little and from what I am seeing you are shorter than I am," I said.

"Whatever so is Chloe here a friend of yours," Layla said.

"Oh that's right you don't know well the short version is my mum got hitched to a guy that guy lived with his daughter and now they live with us so she became my step sister and not long after that we got together," I said putting my arm over Chloe's shoulders and pulling her in close.

"Well looks like you found that special someone good for you," Layla said.

"Oh hey is your brother here is going to be spending Christmas with us as well?" I asked.

"He's over at the arm wrestling championship trying to regain his masculinity after I wiped the floor with him yesterday," Layla said her thumb pointing to the kitchen.

I look past her to see Seth locked in arm wrestling combat with some guy I don't know.
