CHLOE'S P.O.V

I woke up in the guest room that Vicky gave me and Kaitlin last night not a single one of us was ready or wanted to go home last night as Sam and Sammy would have no one to go back to and the rest of us as not to leave those tow alone. I see Katlin sitting up in the bed I get up and wrapped my arm's around her from behind she then leans her head back to rest it on my shoulder I then lean my head on to hers.

"Do you think they'll be ok?" I said worrying about them both.

"I hope," Kaitlin said.

"So you don't know, I was worried that you wouldn't," I said as I closed my eyes.

Just then Vicky came in.

"Hey I made some breakfast so if you get hungry then you should come down San and Sammy have already eaten so I expect they will be leaving soon," Vick said looking like it was the end of the world and I guess for Sam and his brother it was.

"We should go and get something to eat," Kaitlin said lifting her head off my shoulder.

"And we can't let them leave without those," I said looking at the boxes Kaitlin got last night.

We made our way downstairs and saw that Sam and his brother were just about to leave I grab the boxes from Kaitlin's hand and run to the door I pull Sam back by his shoulder.

"Uh oh hey Chloe what's up" Said Sam.

"Here," I said handing the boxes to them.

"What's this," He said taking it.

"Just take it and open it when you're ready," I said and with that, they left both looking at the boxes.

The rest of us ate in silence and then Kaitlin and I left saying goodbye to Vicky as we walked we ran into Layla and Seth coming up the road.

"Hey Kaitlin are your friends doing ok I can't imagine what they must be going through," Layla said as Kaitlin looked to the ground.

"Well if you are spending Christmas with us you might as well come home with us," Kaitlin said.

As we walked it was clear that talking to Kaitlin was a no go so I matched my speed with Layla and chatted with her on the way home as it turned out she was in this town because she was looking for a job. She had been here for a week now and had been unsuccessful but things were looking up as the place she was hoping to apply for was opening vacancies. She was hoping to get into the accounting business area I asked why and as it turns out she was a math wiz. As we got home my mum was strangely happy to see Seth and Layla and even more happy to hear that they would be spending Christmas with us. We told our parents what happened and she seemed as if she was unable to come up with something to say she just stood there and hugged us as Kaitlin's eyes began to tear up. Three days's later and I get a call from Bec.

"Hey, Bec how is Sam doing," I said hoping for a straight answer.

"Well he won't talk to me so I don't know but the call from social people came though if we are lucky then the two of them won't have to move schools but here's the problem the family may only take one and knowing them where ever one of them goes the other will follow," Bec said.

"How did you find out?" I asked.

"Momo, she can get into anything," Bec said like it was obvious.

"So all we can do is hope that they take both of them," I said.

"At the moment yes, how's Kaitlin taking all of this," Bec said.

"Well she is sad but she's not letting it affect her wellbeing so that's good did she know the sheriff or something," I said.

"Well she may not admit it but after her dad left the sheriff in a way took on the role of father figure for her at least until she came to terms with her dad and all that," Bec said.

"Well thanks for telling me," I said.

"Anytime," Bec said before hanging up.

Just then Layla came in to see me.

"Hey," She said with a smile sitting on my bed.

"Hey?" I said not knowing why she is here.

"You doing ok," Layla said.

"Under the circumstances, I'm doing fantastic," I said.

"Ya I figured that would be the case," Layla said.

"How is Kaitlin taking it," I said to see if she had a different opinion.

"She seems to be doing fine but I'm still worried about her" Layla said looking at the door as she were there.

"Do me a favour?" Layla said.

"Huh," I said.

"Now that you have her heart you need to protect it keep it from breaking no matter what you can crack her heart but as long as you can fix it do what you need to," Layla said getting up and leaving.

What was all that about?

I decided that I would have to take some time off go to my own world for a bit and relax I grab my headphones plug them in turn on the music turn it up lay down close my eyes and let the music take me away. When I do this I feel safe then the world just seems right and it can make me think without the doubt and fear of whatever is wrong at the time.

Mabey I should get Kaitlin to try it it might help her deal with this it's worth a shot I guess.

About two hours later Kaitlin comes into our room.

Nows my chance.

"Hey, could you come here for a sec," I said gesturing her over.

She walks over and sit's in front of me.

"Put these on," I say handing her my headphones.

"Why," Kaitlin said.

"Just do it please," I said.

"Fine" Kaitlin said putting on the headphones.

"Now lay back coles your eyes and focus on the music got it," I said as Kaitlin lay back and nodded.

I put the music on and Kaitlin closed her eyes, then she looks like she has found her world a place where she can think without the doubt and fear of whatever is wrong at the time. I leave her there for a bit giving her a chance to work throw the problem in a safe space but it macks me sad that this is all I can do for her at the moment. I turn the TV on and hope to avoid the news so I just go straight to Netflix to find something a little more cheerful.
