The Cool Kids

MELL'S P.O.V

"So the new girl any takers it's possible she's into girls like you Mell," Said Logan.

"What's your point?" I said.

"My point is it's no secret that you are looking for a girlfriend," Said Logan.

"Ya well she seems to be doing nothing that says hey I'm looking for friends," I said.

"Anyone I know," said Samantha from behind me.

We all switch our attention to her until the whole table is looking at her.

"Sorry but this is where the cool kids sit," said Hanna and I grabbed Samantha's hand before she could walk away.

"Cool doesn't mean rotten to the core assholes plus there are only three of us we could use some more "cool" people," I said and Hanna scowled at me.

"Nice one Mell," Jenny said and I smiled.

"You sit," I said to Samantha pointing to the seat next to me and Samantha sat.

"Just remember Hanna I got you into this circle of friends and I can just as easily get you kicked out," I said as I stared her down.

"And she just got here so you can't really say if she is or isn't cool," Jenny said.

"Fine, you want to put her through the test do it but find a third judge because I will not be a part of it," Hanna said.

"Fine then I'll do it," I said.

"Do what exactly?" Samantha said.

"Oh just a little test we have and trust me you'll like it it's fun," I said.

"How does it work?" Samantha said.

"You just have to answer a few simple questions," Said Jenny.

"What kind of questions?" Samantha asked.

"Questions that will determine whether you have the same interests as us that in turn will mean you will be able to contribute in our conversations as you will know what we are talking about" Said Logan.

"How do I take this test?" Samantha said.

"What's your last class?" I asked.

"Maths," Samantha said.

"Same as me so I'll grab you after maths and take you where the test is being held, cool," I said.

"Yeah cool" Samantha with an intrigued look on her face.

Later I sit in my English class and I see Samantha enter and by chance, the only seat left is the one next to me I sigh before she sits and then smile at her and she smiles back making me see just how cute she is when she is smiling.

"Oh about that tattoo since this school has no dress code or uniform I am going to cover up my tattoo I should wear a hoody but will that interfere with this cool thing?" Samantha asked.

"It shouldn't," I said.

"Buuut," Samantha said wanting an answer.

"But the hoody would have to be fashionable and in style," I said.

"And that's all the hints you getting," I said winking at her.

MATHS 5 MINS TO END.

I sit in my seat at the back of the class and watch Samantha from behind I see Logan and the others outside they look at me and I nod and they nod back and move off.

"And that's it for today," Said the teacher.

I get up and grab Samantha before anyone can talk to her I take her out of the class and we go to the front gate where the others are waiting for us.

"Is this part of the test?" Samantha said as I joined the others.

"No this is just the journey, we have a special place where the test takes place," Jenny said.

"Come on we'll take my car," I said and we all went to the parking lot.

"Wait you have a car!" Samantha said with surprise.

"Yep," I said as Jenny and Logan hopped into my convertible.

"But how?" Samantha asked.

"She has a licence and filthy rich parents," Logan said putting his arm around Jenny's shoulders make me wish I could have that with a girl of my own.

"He's right now hop in," I said grabbing her arm.

We drive to an old abandoned building which was at one point the old cement works but a few years ago me and my friends tagged it with our sign so no stupid kids walk in and use the space.

"Ok this place is really starting to creep me out," Samantha said as she looked around.

"That's fine as long as you can hack out your nerves you'll be good," I said.

"Now shall we begin the test," Logan said.

"Ya," I said.

"I'm starting to regret this" Samantha said.

"First question what is your ideal place to live," I said.

"Does it have to be real?" Samantha said.

"Not really," I said.

Samantha then took her phone out and showed a pic of a castle in the clouds.

"Here," Samantha said.

"Not bad," Logan said.

"Second question what would you do if you saw one of us cheating on a test?" I said.

"Are we all cheating?" Samantha said.

"I think we have our answer," Jenny said.

"Final question if you were to date anyone of us who would it be and why?" I said.

"Wa where did that come from?" Samantha said.

"Just pick one of us," Logan said.

"You" Samantha pointing at me.

"Why?" I said happily with her decision.

"Well I don't like guys and she is taken," Samantha said.

"A typical answer," I said looking back at the other two and they nodded.

"You pass welcome to our circle of friends," I said arms out.

"Ya welcome," Jenny said.

"You'll need this," I said throwing her something.

"A key," Samantha said looking at it.

"It's a key to this place if you ever need time alone or to talk to someone you can trust out of earshot of others you come here it's on the outskirts of town and belongs to us," I said.

"For as long as we can keep it," Logan said.

"Well if you need I can give you a ride home you'll find your own way to and from this place soon enough I guarantee it," I said.

"Ya sure," Samantha said.

"Fine but we'll be making a few pit stops along the way after all I need to pick up a few things you cool to wait?" I said.

"No problem," Samantha said.

"We'll see you two tomorrow," Logan said as they left.

Samantha and I get into my car and I drive off onto the main road.

"So what kind of pit stop will you be making exactly?" Samantha asked.

"I'm just picking something up from a guy I know and he has ways of getting his hands on some very choice items," I said.
