Aether sits on the balcony of the inn, looking out into the horizon. He feels arms wrap around his torso, hands resting on his chest. A head leans against his upper back.

"Hey Xiao," Aether smiled, immediately recognizing his lover.

"mm.."

He felt Xiao nuzzle into his back/shoulder, letting out a soft sigh. Aether rests his hand against one of the one's on his chest, giving it a small pat.

"Stressful day?"

"Mhm.."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really" The adeptus sighed.

"Okay" Aether smiles, twisting himself around so he could hug his lover better.

Xiao relaxed against him, closing his eyes. He pressed his cheek against Aether's chest, letting out another sigh.

Aether loved seeing this side of Xiao. It was a side Aether was pretty sure only he (and occasionally Paimon accidently) had witnessed. Aether kisses the top of his head, letting out a small chuckle at the thought of Paimon accidentally witnessing Xiao being soft.

"Love you.." The adeptus mutters into his chest.

"I love you too" The blond giggles.

"Why are you laughing?" Xiao frowns, looking up slightly.

With that, Aether's heart just about melted. He felt his cheeks redden slightly; How did he become so lucky?
"I'm just thinking about how much I love this side of you. You are usually so stubborn and serious but right now you're being so.." He paused trying to think of the right word "Gentle?" He tried "Yeah that works. Gentle"

Xiao huffed, shaking his head slightly. Although embarrassed the adeptus soon rests his head back on the blond, mumbling another I love you.

"love you too, shortie"

"Good..and stop calling me that"
