Chan and Sinn ate food that Kaew had left Sinn in the fridge. Afterwards, Chan walked out on the balcony to call his Pho.

{Hey! Are you back? How was the trip? I tried to call you but I think the service wasn’t good.}

Chan didn’t want to tell Khem about his fight, or his phone, or even Sinn replacing his things. He didn’t want to worry the man, but they had a close relationship, so he gave in.

“Pho…I got into a fight again. But! I didn’t hit him even once. I got beat up and he smashed my phone and mom’s necklace was broken. But then Sinn and I made up, so now I have a boyfriend. Oh, and don’t get mad but he bought me a new phone and fixed mom’s necklace. I tried to tell him not to but I think he must really like me, because he practically did it against my will.” Chan spoke so fast that if anyone overheard him they would think he were crazy.

Khem tried to wrap his head around every word that came through the phone, but he was still the calm man he always was. {Are you okay?} First thing was first, the well being of Chan.

“Yea…I have some bruises but Sinn is helping me.”

{His name is Sinn? Is this the same one that you were upset about?}

“Oi, Pho, keep up with me. I told you we made up.”

{Just checking! He bought you a new phone?}

“Yea…he wouldn’t take no for an answer. He’s extremely stubborn.”

{Sounds familiar.}

“Pho, do you want to meet him?”

{Of course! Bring him to Tan's birthday party next weekend. Lin and Korn would love to see him again. They already bragged about meeting him and Sook's friend, Dee.} (Tan is Sook's older sister: Ratana)

“Okay, I’ll see if he’s free.”

*Meanwhile*

Sook waited for Dee to come back from the restroom when he answered a phone call from his mother. “Mae?”

{Tan wants you to bring your boyfriend home this weekend.}

“Oi! Mae, who says we’re dating? You’re getting ahead of yourself.” Sook thought they were dating, but he didn’t want to get ahead of himself after hearing Dee speak to his father.

{Oh it’s just a matter of time.}

“Maaaeee…,” Sook whined. “I'll ask, but I don’t want you scaring him. Tell Tan and Pho, too.” Sook's parents and sister were all very blunt and talkative, so he didn’t know what they would start telling Dee. He always felt like the black sheep, being so quiet and calm.

{We won’t! Promise.}

“How come I don’t trust you?” He teased.

{Oh he loved us when he came to the restaurant, he'll be fine. We won’t scare him off. The real judge of your boyfriend is Sunny.} (Sunny is Tan's 2 year old.)

“Sunny will love him.” Sook watched Dee walk back into the room. “Oh, Mae, I’ve got to go. I’ll call you back later.”

“Was that your mom?” Dee crawled onto his bed, then dropped down and rested his head on Sook's lap.

“Yea, she wants to know if you’ll come to my sister's birthday next weekend. It’s okay if you’re too busy.” A part of Sook was worried that Dee would think it’s too soon to do family events together.

“I’d love to!” Dee grabbed Sook's face and pulled him down to give him a quick peck. Dee didn’t know what it was like for a family to like him that much. All of his exes didn’t like to bring him home to meet their families, because of how he dressed and acted.

Dee may have looked a bit intense with his dark clothing and piercings, but he was a golden retriever at heart. He didn’t look as scary as Sinn, but he looked and was mischievous. He was loud and outgoing, and the families of his ex girlfriends wanted guys who were elegant and refrained. He never knew a family could love him enough to invite him to anything. He really won Sook's parents over when he went to their restaurant.

“Oh, and who's Sunny? Your sister?”

“She's my niece. Tan is my sister. But I think they’ll both like you for sure.” Sook played with Dee's hair, running his hand through and massaging.

“And you?”

“Huh?” Sook's hand paused.

“Do you like me?”

Sook smiled at the silly question. “Don't be stupid. I like you so much my heart could explode.”

“Oh! I like that answer.” Dee smiled lightly at Sook, looking up at the handsome face. “Can I take you somewhere?”

“Hmmm….okay. Where?”

Dee got up and put on his leather jacket. “You'll see.”

Sook had never been in the neighborhood Dee took him to. It was similar to his own, just on a different side of the city. Small shops everywhere still open, old men sitting outside talking and smoking, and drunk people stumbling down the road. “Here we are.”

Sook looked at the neon “open” sign and above it was the name of the bar “Dusk.” “What is this place?”

As they walked in, Sook immediately knew the answer to his question. They were at a bar. It was small and cozy, with small tables and two pool tables. People everywhere were laughing and chatting, drinking and playing.

“Decha! What brings you by?” The man behind the counter was cleaning glasses as they walked in. His style was stunning to Sook. The man wore eyeliner, earrings, an open button up shirt to show off his chest tattoo, and had a streak of red in his hair.

“Dawn, I wanted you to meet someone.” Dee pulled Sook in front of him, with the boy still amazed by Dawn's visuals.

“Hello, little one.” Dawn's smile was as beautiful as he was. Sook knew right away who he aspired to be like.

“Hello…” Sook looked down and was regretting wearing his white sweater to a bar where everyone looked so cool in their dark or leather clothes.

“Where's King?” Dee looked around for another friend.

“Right here!” A muscular, tattooed man came in with his cut-sleeve shirt and wrapped his arms around Dawn, giving him a sweet kiss on the cheek. “What’s up? Need a drink?”

“One wouldn’t hurt.”

“And you?” King turned his attention to Sook. “Drink?”

“Oh, no thank you.” Sook didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of Dee's friends.

“What’s your name, kid?” King was extremely intimidating, even if he didn’t mean to be.

“His name is Sook. He’s my boyfriend,” Dee said, wrapping an arm around Sook. His words touched Sook in a way he couldn’t explain, Sook was just extremely happy.

King stood up straight, in shock, same as Dawn as they looked between the two college kids. “Since when did you switch teams?” King grinned.

“Recently. For him.” Dee smiled at Sook, who was blushing hard.

“Well come with me to the back, I’ll let you pick out something special to drink.”

Dee gave Sook a kiss on the cheek before heading back with King. “I’ll be right back.”

Sook nervously watched Dee disappear beyond a beaded curtain. “He’s never brought anyone here before.” Sook looked back to find Dawn smiling at him. “You must be very special.” Dawn's words made him feel good, and less insecure about their relationship.

As Sook's heart was beating fast, Dee was following King into a back room with his heart giddy from excitement.

“You must be serious about him if you brought him to us, huh?” King let Dee enter the room first. “Pick which one you want.”

“I’ve never felt more connected to anyone I’ve dated before.” He browsed the liquors until he found one and picked it up.

“So you’re serious? Not just using him as some…experiment? Just to see what it’s like?” King knew such things happened because they happened to Dawn.

“To me, he’s much more. I’ve never been more serious about someone.”

“Have you told him about your mom?”

Dee froze, but he was confident enough with his relationship. “When I think he’s ready, I’ll tell him.”

“And does your dad know about him?”

Dee frowned, biting his lip. “Dad doesn’t know…we're in hiding.”

“Decha…this could hurt him in the end…”

“I'll do everything I can to make sure that doesn’t happen. I don’t want it to end…”
