Chan made his way to his cousin, jumping on his back. “Boo!”

Sook jumped in his place and gasped. “Oi, Chan!” He slapped the boy's arm for scaring him.

“Ow! Are people here always so rude?” Chan rubbed his arm.

“You scared me first, you deserved that.”

“Fine, fine.”

“Let me see your schedule, maybe we have some of the same classes.” Chan reached into his bag and handed Sook a folded paper, then looked around at the students. “Our classes are all the same except that one.” Sook pointed to an advanced class. “Come on, let’s go to our first class so we can get good seats.”

Sook walked in first, then Chan. Someone in the hall bumped into him, causing him to bump into the guy in the doorway of his classroom. He put his hands together, realizing it was the same guy from earlier. “I'm sorry.”

The student lingered for a split second, but then walked away without saying a word.

Chan shook off the awkward feeling as he sat next to Sook. They sat near the windows. “Maybe he’s deaf?”

“Huh?” Sook was getting his supplies out, unsure of what Chan had said.

“Nothing.”

“Shia!” Two guys were messing around and being loud in the back corner next to the door.

“Who’s that?” Chan leaned back to see the hooligans being obnoxious.

“The one with the leather jacket is Decha. We call him Dee. He was the class clown and biggest party animal in grade school.”

“And next to him?”

“…Roon…”

Chan nearly snapped his neck to look at Sook. “Nuhuh!”

Sook quickly covered his cousin's mouth to not draw attention. “Shhh!”

Chan broke free from Sook and whispered while looking back at the boys. “Roon? As in the love of your life? The one that doesn’t know you exist?”

Sook rolled his eyes. “He knows I exist, he just doesn’t know I like him.”

“Ah. Unrequited love. You, my dear cousin, are such a hopeless romantic.”

Sook crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, eyeing Chan. “You mean you've never felt like that towards someone?”

“Hmmm…” Chan thought for a second, but could only think of one time. “I had a crush once.”

“And? What happened?”

“I told him I liked him but he didn’t feel the same. End of story.”

Sook scoffed. “You don’t understand, then.”

“Understand what?”

Love. You probably haven’t felt it yet.” Just as Sook spoke about love, Roon made his way to the front of their desks.

“Speak of the devil.” Chan grinned as Sook nudged his knee with his own.

“Hey Sook. Long time no see.” Roon sat backwards in a chair in front of them.

“Hey Roon.” It was clear to Chan that Sook was blushing. He thought Roon was an idiot for not noticing or maybe he was just a playboy.

“Who’s your friend, Sook?” The boys turned around to find Dee standing behind them.

“Dee…this is my cousin Chan.”

“Chan.” Dee studied the boy. “Do you like to party?”

Chan was conflicted. He didn’t like to judge a book by its cover, but Dee did seem like a party animal like Sook said. “Sometimes.”

“You two should come by my brother's apartment this weekend. Alcohol, girls, and other…things.”

“Dee, it’s the first week of school.”

“You’re too uptight, Sook. Just stop by for a little bit. I need to make a name for myself in college, and the more people the better.”

Chan couldn’t believe this guy. Who was he to pressure them? “Fine.” Chan looked at his cousin in shock. Sook smiled innocently.

“I’ll get Roon to send you the address.” With that, Dee was gone, and Roon gave Sook a flirty smile before following his friend.

“What was that?” Chan crossed his legs and arms in one go.

Sook smiled cheesily at his cousin. “Sorry. I just want to spend time with Roon.”

“Do you even know if he’s gay? You heard Dee. There’s going to be girls there.”

“I have to find out eventually. This is college, after all. People can bloom, meet their first love, find their sexuality, and experience things for the first time.” Sook had a point, but Chan wasn’t going to get his hopes up for anything.

“You watch too many dramas.”
