Note: Welcome to my new collection of fluff/whumpy/extra fluffy one shots of this underrated OTP! :) I also write the occasional 2 or 3 parter.

This little bit is from my Fluffbruary 2022 collection, figured it'd be the perfect one to open this collection with. Enjoy! :)

Dovecote

Granger heard singing coming from the ballroom, he walked in, and saw Hetty at the piano, playing and singing in a foreign language.

'Man, she sounds so beautiful. I wonder what she's playing?' Granger thought to himself.

Hetty felt at peace at the piano. It reminded her of her adoptive mom, who loved the piano.

When she was done playing, she heard the sound of applause.

'How much did you hear?' She asked, stunned.

'A bit. You sounded really good! What was that you were singing anyways?' Granger asked.

'It was a French song. I learned how to sing in French for an undercover op a long time ago.'

'You sound like such a natural. Been playing for a long time?'

'My adoptive mom had a piano. She was amazing! She even let my play on it a few times. I don't get much time to myself, but I try to play on this when I can. It makes me feel close to her.' Hetty said.

'That is so sweet. You must have been really close to her.' Granger replied.

'When I was a kid, we were really close. She tried to make me feel good about being different then everyone else, and helped me not feel like a freak 24/7.'

'Did you 2 stay close after you grew up?'

'No. We became distant after I joined the CIA. I couldn't stand having to lie to her about what I was doing, so I just stopped talking to her. I was on a month long op when she died. I was able to make it to her funeral, but my dad wasn't too happy to see me. I tried to tell him I had an important job, but he didn't want to hear it. I felt guilty for months after that. I listened to old piano music night after night, just to try and feel like she was still alive. I didn't stop feeling guilty about it until years later when he died.' Hetty said, feeling sad.

Sitting next to her. 'Sorry to hear. I stopped wanting to be close to my parents after they started preferring my brother over me. You must really miss her.' Granger replied.

'Sometimes I do.'

'How do you play a French song the way you do?'

'Well, it sort of goes like this.' Hetty started plucking the keys, and before she knew it, she was singing in French again.

'You're amazing. I can see why she loved you the way she did.' Granger said when she was done playing.

Leaning on his arm. 'Thank you dear.'
