From my Swoon June 2023 collection
All couple had their own love languages, or other forms of saying 'I love you' so to speak. Sometimes it was telling the other person a pet name, or calling each other a sweet nickname.
With Hetty and Granger, they had 2 simple words: 'Be safe'. It wasn't much, but given their line of work, 'Be safe' meant a lot of important things.
For Hetty, 'Be safe' were the goodbye words that Granger wrote to her when he left her, she took it as his way of saying that he loved her. And Granger himself also believed those words were an easy way of saying the 3 words as well.
'How long will you be gone?' Hetty asked.
'Should just be a few days, if it all goes right.' Granger replied. 'I'll try to call when I get to the safe point.'
'Well, take care of yourself. And, be safe.'
Smiling, he bent down, gently rubbed her cheek and whispered: 'You be safe too.' Then he gave her a warm kiss.
'Come home to me.' Hetty whispered.
'I promise to try my hardest.' Granger whispered back.
'Hey you 2 lovebirds, we got to go!' Sam called out, interrupting their moment.
As true to his word, Granger went home a week later.
