Scare

From my Whumptober 2022 collection. :)

Out in the field.

'Oh my God, Sam!' Callen exclaimed when he saw Hetty collapsed on the floor.

'Oh crap! Is she breathing?!' Sam replied.

'I've got a pulse. Judging from the mark on her neck, she must have been hit with a sedative at high speed.

'Window is broken, must have been fired at her from outside.'

'Security cameras should hopefully tell us. Medics are already on their way, if she's just passed out, we'll get her back to work and put her on 1 of the couches.' Callen finished.

Thankfully, the medics confirmed that Hetty was just sedated, and that it would wear off after a couple hours. Callen and Sam brought her back to work where Granger already had a couch ready.

'I'll look after her. You 2 go find Miss Sippos.' He said.

For the rest of the afternoon, Granger kept vigil at her side, and Nell and Eric (well, mostly Nell) mostly lurked around.

'She's just sedated, Nell. She'll wake up when it wears off.' Granger said.

'I know. Still, it must be a bit scary to see her passed out like this.'

'In a small way, it is.'

That evening.

'Mmm. What happened?' Hetty sleepily murmered.

'You were hit with a sedative and have been passed out all afternoon. Callen and Sam brought you back here.' Granger replied.

'And, you've been sitting there all afternoon?'

'You needed someone to look after you, and to tell you how you got here, and also because the nerds upstairs can't fully work from down here.'

'You sure it's not for any other reason?'

'Like what?'

Hetty grinned. 'Ow, my neck! Ow.'

'Yeah, it'll be sore for a while because of how fast a speed the sedative was shot at you at.'

'Is Miss Sippos okay?'

'Yes, we found her alive and well.' Granger replied.

'I feel like I should've seen that coming. Instead I was completely ambushed.'

'Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm just relieved that you're okay.'

'I am too. And I also think I'm going to throw up now.'

Thinking fast, Granger gave her the waste basket to use, and she hurled in it.
