From my Whumptober 2023 collection.

It was breakfast time, and Hetty was annoyed that Owen still wasn't up.

Bedroom.

'Wake up! (clap clap.).'

'Mmm! What time is it?' Granger mumbled.

'Breakfast is ready, and we have work to get to. Come on, up up!' Hetty barked impatiently.

'Okay okay, I'm up, I'm up!'

At the table.

'You okay? Is it the eggs? I didn't think they were undercooked, but I think there must be some thing wrong with the stove.' Hetty rambled.

'No, your cooking is fine. I think there might be something wrong with my stomach.' Granger replied, uneasy.

'Oh. Well, if you're not feeling good, I can always...'

She went over to take his plate, when he puked, on her shoes!

A bit later.

'Really sorry about that, truly!' Granger said, trying not to shake too much.

'You're lucky those were older shoes that I was planning on replacing.' Hetty grumbled. (checking the thermometer). 'Hmm. 102. Looks like you'll be staying home today.'

'Guess that explains the nausea, and the chills I'm having.'

'Do you need help getting back to bed?'

'Nope! No, I'm fine on my own.' Granger hastily replied, then slowly went back to bed.

Hetty checked up on him one more time before leaving for work, but he was already asleep. (except he was pretending to be asleep).

Later that day.

'How is he?' Hetty asked when she checked in.

'Not worse. But he's been pretty miserable. Did something else happen this morning? He's been looking a bit guilty about something that he won't bring up.' Kim replied.

'Oh, he tried eating breakfast when he threw up on my shoes. I was a little upset about it, but I was planning on replacing them eventually! He can't be that beat up over something that trivial, can he?'

'You'll have to ask him when you get home.'

That evening.

Granger was lying on the living room couch when Hetty came home.

'Did I ever tell you of the time that I got drunk and puked on Mr. Callen? I was so mortified, I didn't want to talk to him all day! But, he understood. And he made me the dry cleaning bill.' Hetty started.

'It's not the shoes part that I'm embarrassed about, I got up last night to use the bathroom, and I was feeling a bit off. I thought it would pass by morning and that I was just feeling a bit chilly. Clearly I was wrong.' Granger unhappily replied.

Rubbing his shoulder. 'I get that. Do you want me to make you anything?'

'Soup would be nice. Maybe I can hold that down.' Granger requested.

'I can do that. And for safety's sake, I'll bring a puke bucket.' Hetty replied.
