The room was silent immediately I stepped in, to say I was nervous wasn't a lie. The five pair of eyes looked at me with surprise, some anger

Why wouldn't they be angry, I was introduced here and disappeared without a trace before I even raised a finger to help with any items

But I was here now and I was going to apologize for my disappearance, I hoped they were understanding people because I wasn't planning on giving them the reason why I went missing in action

"Hi" I began with a small nervous wave as I stood by the door

"Girl where have you been?" Claudia asked me in a serious tone

"Uh well" I chuckled nervously "...home?"

Alright that's not how it sounded in my head

Sam and Harry raised their eyebrows, I don't think this was working. I felt like a toddler caught stealing iced sugar under their scrutinizing gaze

"Home?" Claudia chuckled "doing what?"

"Something came up" I said looking everywhere but them

Somebody snorted

"And you're back here knowing full well you might lose your job?" Benadette said "your confidence is on another level Serah"

I looked at them

What did they want to hear, the actual truth? How would the take 'the reason why I went MIA was because I was busy being forced to marry the boss and I was mad at his brother because he betrayed me, so I didn't want to see his face plus I was busy running their family's company since the CEO decided to take a little trip to france ...but he's back now so I'm all yours'

Was that going to make sense to them? They'd probably laugh in my face. To them that would sound like a fantasy, something that would never happen to a girl like me

"Hannah is waiting for you Serah" Omega notified

"Pray she's on her good side today otherwise I don't think we'll be seeing you again" Claudia said as she looked back on her computer

"And ah" Harry stood and walked towards me with files in his hands "pass this to her while you're at it, we need her to sign it... since you're going there you could uuuh... yeah"

Why did I feel like he was pushing me in the lion's den?

I received the files and looked at him wanting to know what the files contained

"It's this month's work, if she signs and approve of it then we can start putting the sketches and designs to life" he explained

I nodded

Right

"You should hurry though, we want to start working" Claudia said from her computer

My eyes rolled to her

Okay this girl completely didn't like me

I looked behind Harry and yup I sure wasn't welcomed here, Sam was focused on his computer and I caught him low key shaking his head in disappointment, Benadette was looking at me with that are you crazy look, and I was getting judgy looks from Omega and Claudia

This wasn't going to work if they felt this way about me. A good relationship is necessary for a team to be successful and so far, all I could see was bad blood

It's my fault, I'd be annoyed if I were in their shoes too

They deserved a proper apology, they welcomed me and I stubbed them in the back. I looked at the files, going in there with these files wasn't okay either, there would be a possibility of the papers not getting signed because of me
