56. Serah

I could feel the tension in the air getting thick as we sat on the couch opposite each other in Darren's office

Last time Darren was around, he found me in a very uncompromising position with his brother. I didn't know where to start to be honest

I fiddled with Garrel's hand on my laps, looking at him he seemed very chilled and collected like nothing was going on

"So are you going to tell me what's going on or..."Darren trailed off

"First of all" I looked up "I'm sorry for ignoring you like that, I should've heard you out" I started off softly

Darren parted his lips, he instantly rolled his eyes to his big brother

"She knows"

"I told her" Garrel said

He intertwined his fingers with mine and pecked my hand

"We're together now" he gave me a lopsided smile

Darren frowned and looked between us perplexed at his brother's words

"Wait how? What... I don't get it... last time I checked Serah was too shy to be around you and you very much didn't show any signs of liking her"

"I guess you weren't looking close enough" Garrel shrugged looking at his brother amused with his reaction

Darren looked at me a confused look still on his face

"How did you charm this man?" he raised his eyebrows

"I don't know myself" I shook my head with a small smile on my face

Garrel left my hand and stood his eyes on his phone

There was silence for a few seconds before Darren spoke again

"I'm sorry for judging you Garrel" he said "you must've not noticed but I misunderstood your intentions and thought you were only being close with Serah to look good for the public"

"I understand... i knew you'd eventually come around, I'll leave you guys for a minute talk" he said and looked at me "come soon"

I nodded before he left the room

"So you're shagging my brother" Darren wiggled his eyebrows

I looked at him eye wide at his blunt sentence, I shook my head as I looked away from him feeling uncomfortable with the subject

"It's too soon for that" I said quietly

That earned a loud vibrant laugh from Darren, guy laughed like I was tickling him hard

"That was a good one Serah, we all know my brother doesn't play with his food plus your reaction is giving it all away" he said as a matter of fact "you are shagging my brother"

I sighed

"It's that obvious?" I looked at him

"You're glowing" he smiled "it looks good on you"

"Thank you" I smiled "I'm sorry for not talking to you sooner" I apologized once again

Darren shook his head

"No worries about that, I'm just happy things turned right for you" he smiled "I don't mean to brag but ...my brother's a keeper" he said cockily

"Oh wow" I rolled my eyes as I held back a laugh

Darren chuckled

"Don't praise him like that"

"I'm his brother so-"

My phone cut in his sentence as it started ringing from the mini black table, we both looked at the phone screen before Darren's lips turned into a smirk

"Like I said, he's a keeper"

I took my phone as my lips turned downwards and let my tongue out before shaking my head at him

Darren only chuckled as I got up and walked out of his office

I closed the door, turned around and there he was. His phone to his ear as he stood on the door to his office, he put his phone away from his ear when he saw me

"You wanted something?" I asked as I walked to him

"I need you to put your fingerprint here" he said gesturing to the door

I eyed it and found an electronic like thingy attached to the door

"Wow" I whispered in admiration as I touched it

I only saw these in movies, I never knew I'd see one in real life and even this soon

The lock looked smart, it screamed 'I cost a lot of money' all over it

"Aren't these like expensive?" I asked looking at it

"They are" I felt him stand behind me

He tapped on it and punched in a date, he took my hand and made me press my hand

"What date did you put?" I asked as he pressed my fingers on the device

"Guess" he said

"How would I know" I chuckled

I felt Garrel lean forth

"It's a day that became important to me after I found out why you really married me" he whispered in my ear causing butterflies all over my tummy

My eyes rolled side to side thinking of when that was, I turned around when my mind gave me no answer

"The day you met my dad?" I asked

He let out a chuckle and smiled before he shook his head

"Ummm my birthday?" I guessed again

He stared into my eyes and watched me intently

"The day we got married" he said above a whisper

My lips parted as I felt warmness spread inside me, I was speechless. I didn't know what to say, I never knew that's how he saw our wedding day

A lot happened that day, we weren't happy, we got married forcibly and our families weren't exactly happy with the situation

How could he see something positive in all that

I for one never saw it in a positive light, never even thought of it even though I did kind of ended up with him

In a way I guess, our wedding day... did have some kind of good in it

"I know our marriage happened in a way you never imagined, a lot took place"

He placed both hands on either side of me caging me

"But you were the best thing that happened to me that day" he said softly and quietly "you might not have seen it but... I was glad it was you behind that veil"

I looked into his eyes, was he being real?

"Am I really that important to you?"

He smiled before his eyes dropped a few centimeters down my eyes, his gaze lingered there for a few seconds before he locked eyes with me again

His eyes soften as I watched him intently waiting for an answer. His hand found its way to my face and he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear as he looked at me in admiration

"Garrel" I whispered

Garrel's eyes rolled back to me

"Am I-"

"I love you wifey"
