April 10th. I picked my head up. It was my birthday. The birthday where I invited Brendon to my family's house rather than Keaton. I wore a floral dress with minimal makeup. My natural hair curled in the mid sections and Brendon wore a black loose shirt and black jeans. Surprisingly, a brown hat. A big brown hat. I walked downstairs, everyone was waiting for me to come down so we could get to celebrating, "everyone be quiet, she's coming!" Alex whispered very loudly.

I walked into the kitchen. Silly string and streamers flew around and onto me. I laughed for a few moments, getting hugged by everyone, "for once, i'm glad you brought Brendon instead of Keaton." Alex murmered.

"Of course," I began and sat down in the chair in front of Brendon. He massaged my shoulders for a moment, "Brendon's my best friend....guy best friend."

"Good catch." Kimberly uttered and smiled softly.

"Can we get onto presents?" Alex begged. I rolled my eyes as she slammed the presents on the table. I looked around, embarrassed that I have to open my presents. My mom and Dad stared at me.

"Open them with your boyfriend." My mom said. I took my hands off the first present.

My mom gave everyone a confused look, "we aren't together, mom."

"They hate each other." Alexandra said mockingly. I rolled my eyes, opening the first present that was from my parents. A polaroid camera. I got up, hugging them tightly, thanking them for the gifts.

I handed the gift to Brendon and his hands held it gently. I opened the next present from Alexandra. It was big and hefty. I unwrapped it—to my amazement, it was a new sewing machine. I fanned the tears away from my eyes, "Alexandra-"

"Before you put it down," she began and grabbed a huge happy birthday hat with candles on it. She shoved it on my head and I sat there as she took pictures of me. Brendon chuckled and pulled his phone out. I flipped the camera off and laughed. I got up and walked to the kitchen counter and stood behind it, "oh! Brendon! Get in the picture! Act like you like each other."

Brendon put his arm around my shoulder and I did the same, smiling for the picture and then taking our hands quickly off of each other.

Lottie, Jada and Kimberly all got me sewing needles and other clothing designing objects and my final present was from Brendon. It seemed so small, yet so meaningful. His eyes were glued to the small bag my hand was reaching in. I pulled out a small box, opening it slowly—the shimmer and shine of the necklace immediately caught my eye. It felt like more than anything that had ever been given to me. Alex, Jada, Lottie and Kimberly were geeking out, "Brendon! What the fuck?!" Alex exclaimed.

"Language Alexandra Marie-" My mother said and slapped her arm. Alex grabbed it and shook her head.

"What's the issue?" Brendon asked Alex.

"That's an expensive necklace and you're not even dating her!"

I took the necklace out of the box and examined it closer, "I can still get her something meaningful."

"Guys," I said and shot Alex a look. Brendon took the necklace out of my hand. I pulled my hair over my shoulder and I felt him brush against me. His fingers clipping the back of my necklace and it fell, laying in the middle of my chest. I turned and smiled at him, but he couldn't take his eyes off of me.

I got up and hugged him tightly and Alex cleared her throat, "watch your hands, forehead."

Brendon didn't listen and his hands fell around my waist and he kissed my neck silently. Making sure no one saw or heard it. I pulled away and touched the necklace again, "it's beautiful."
