I walked into my mom's house. I looked around quickly, hoping Andy wasn't around. Brendon shut the door behind him. Loads of people were standing in the kitchen. Kimberly, Alexandra, Nicolette, my dad, my mom, my aunts and uncles. I took a deep breath and Nicolette glanced over and quickly slipped out of the crowd, "you made it."

I looked down at Clover, "well, we don't have much time, Brendon's got a show in three hours."

Nicolette smiled and looked down at Clover, "that's enough time. Come."

Brendon and I followed my sister into the kitchen, squeezing in with everyone. Alex turned around after I tapped her shoulder lightly and she smiled, "you came."

I raised an eyebrow and nodded my head. Brendon placed his hand on the middle of my back and rubbed it, comforting me and my anxieties. Nicolette leaned forward, "hey, big head." she whispered

I turned to Nikki and raised an eyebrow, "who are you talking to?" I whispered back.

"Your husband," she uttered, "big head!"

I turned to Brendon and tugged on his shirt, catching his attention and nodded my head toward Nikki and he leaned forward, "can you sing a song like right now?"

He furrowed his eyebrows and whispered, "what?"

"well, I kind of told everyone that you were going to sing..."

I slapped Nikki's arm and she gasped, "ow, you fucker!"

"Why would you tell people a promise you can't fucking keep?!" I whisper yelled at her.

Nikki rolled her eyes, "can you fuckin' sing a song?!"

Brendon groaned and sighed, nodding his head, "yeah. Yeah I can."

I hit Brendon's arm and he grabbed it lightly, "what?!"

"What song are you going to sing, stupid fuck?" I uttered, and looked at him, waiting for an answer.

Brendon thought for a moment, "well I could sing..." he trailed off and shook his head. He was speechless, "I could sing Kaleidoscope Eyes."

I don't even know that song. I nodded my head and Nikki dragged Brendon up to the front. She introduced him and let the floor to him. He played the music on the speaker. It was like an old love song, "i'm a disappearing act done poorly...but if I ever get it right, you'll miss me...sorely...Look like a cat that just ate the canary—coughing up feathers...there's a get out of jail card, if I could think of something clever...

I plead the fifth on all of this."

He stared at me from across the room. A smile painting on his face and I smiled at him, "when your chips are down...and your drinks are all gone—i'll still be here, wishing and waiting for you to come on. Kaleidoscope eyes sparkle at the world, my emerald city downtown girl. In the sickness of you..." He locked eyes with me and I could feel his emotion through the song, "i'm just a white blood cell fighting like hell for you."

It was like I was falling in love with him all over again. I looked next to me, Nikki was dancing and I gave her a dirty look and looked away slowly. Fucking freak, "i'm just a crook—with no intent or stash..pour gasoline on the vault—just to burn the ca-a-a-ash...swear to god....i've never heard a better sound, comin' out then when you're whimpering my name out your mouth,

I plead the fifth to all of this..."

I blushed a little and Nikki turned to me quickly and set her hands on my shoulder and I quickly pulled away, giving her a disgusted face, "he's really good."
