There was a darkness to Brendon Urie that didn't mean Joanne Jackson's eye.
That was until one fateful night at a party in downtown Los Angeles, at one in morning.
Joanne and Brendon were seemingly fine the whole night at this party. Drinking, laughing, dancing. Doing everything to make the night fun. Up until the near end of the party.
The typical. A guy trying to flirt and get into some random honey's pants, the woman saying no and he's still proceeding. That's what was happening to Joanne.
"Please, back the fuck up." She uttered through her gritted teeth. Joanne picked her drink up and began walking away, but—not getting as far as she expected.
"Aye! Wait up!"
Joanne turned quickly and threw her drink in this random mans face, "stop following me, you fucking freak."
The man wiped his face and Joanne found herself in Brendon's arms. Regardless of their stupid fight last night, he was still taking good care of her. But soon, Joanne would see this evil and hostile side of Brendon that she would have never expected, "jesus fuck."
"What's wrong, darling?" Brendon whispered in her ear. Joanne waved Brendon off, but Brendon wasn't oblivious. He saw this man flirting with her and he knew exactly what was going on. It filled him with rage. Once Joanne became his, he became obsessed, not in a controlling or toxic way, but just because once he got his prize, he never wanted to let that go. Joanne was his prize. He wasn't ever going to take the risk of loosing her. Brendon unwrapped himself from Joanne and walked over to the guy. Alex tapped her, but Joanne hadn't cared enough to pay attention, "Joanne!"
Again, Joanne hadn't answered
Alex tapped her again and Joanne turned to her, "fuck. Are you fucking deaf?!"
"What?"
Alex clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth and groaned. Turning Joanne around and Brendon was shoving someone outside. She slammed her drink down and ran after Brendon. When she ran out of the door, Brendon was on his knee, a closed fist and his hand gripped this guys shirt, "Brendon!"
He hadn't stopped to answer her. Joanne dropped her purse and tried pulling him by the shoulder, but Brendon quickly pushed her hand away, "Brendon! Stop!"
But he still didn't listen. Joanne put all of her strength to the test and pulled him off of this guy. Brendon got up and Joanne stopd in front of him. He turned his head and spit on the ground, "don't ever come 'round here again if i'm here."
"Okay," Joanne began and pushed Brendon back, "enough."
The guy got up and wiped his face off, "that pretty lady won't stand a chance with you."
"You still want to fuckin' go?"
The guy ran toward Brendon and Joanne and Brendon grabbed Joanne's shoulders, "watch out!"
Brendon shoved Joanne to the side and she caught her breath. Brendon dodged one punch and cocked his arm back, punching this guy square in the face. The guy landed at least one punch and it landed on Brendon's right. Joanne gasped, trying to comprehend that her 'sweet' boyfriend was physically fighting someone.
Brendon hit a cheap shot on the guy where the sun doesn't really shine and grabbed the back of his head, kneeing him in the nose. The guy fell on his back and Brendon spit out blood next to the guy and walked back over to Joanne, "what are you fucking crazy?!"
"You want me to just let a guy disrespect you?"
Joanne crossed her arms and Brendon scoffed, taking off his leather jacket, "did you forget we could just leave?"
"Joanne, if I hadn't stepped in, something would've happened to you. Now let's go."
He grabbed her arm and dragged her to the car. Joanne didn't utter a single word. She had no words. She watched her sweet and gentle boyfriend turn into something dark and twisted. Bloodied knuckles, a black eye and a bloody mouth.
Joanne slammed the door behind her, Brendon bent over the sink and spit more blood out. Joanne tossed her purse on the kitchen table, "so, are you going to explain yourself? You never would fight someone."
"Everything I promised everyone i'd be, i'm not what I should be."
"What the fuck?" Joanne asked and threw her hands up, "are you preaching a fucking gospel?"
"Joanne," he began and walked over to her. He set his hands on her shoulders, "every thing I do is for your love. Yeah, I'm a good guy to you, but..."
and it all fell silent. Joanne hadn't had a single word to say. Brendon barely had the words to form a complete sentence. Joanne looked away from him and cleared her throat, "you weren't supposed to be like him."
"I am not like him, Joanne, I would never ever do that to you."
Joanne felt sick to her stomach. Tears welt in her eyes and Brendon put his hands on his neck, "you should leave."
His eyes widened and he dropped his arms, "leave?"
"Yeah."
Brendon walked up to Joanne and she looked away from him. He put his finger under her chin and his thumb pressed against her jawline, moving her head to look at him, "Jj.."
Joanne pushed herself off of him and Brendon hung his head down in defeat, "I don't think you should stay."
"None of this was meant to hurt you."
"Not meant to hurt me?!" Joanne began and put her hands on her head, "what the fuck was it meant to do!"
"Stop fucking screaming about it! If we could just sit like adults and talk—you'd be fuckin' fine!"
"You know what, Brendon? Fuck you-"
And Brendon walked away, walking to his home studio and started live streaming. His face appeared on the camera and he cleared his throat, clearly angry as his bouncing leg confirmed it, "sorry i'm a little late to start, just had some..personal things. How is everyone?"
Brendon read through the comments and the door slammed open. Brendon looked in the camera and he hung his head low, "you're live streaming?!"
"babe, come on, i'm live."
"You know what, we're done."
Brendon didn't care that he was live streaming. He got up and still in cameras view. He grabbed Joanne's face, kissing her lips. He pulled away slightly, "are we good now?"
He whispered that slightly in her ear and she nodded her head. She turned to walk out and Brendon slapped her ass slightly, chuckling after and shutting the door. Brendon sat back down in his chair, "aw, look everybody in the comments—I promise we don't normally fight. We just had a bad day and night."
And with all of that, Joanne was still uneasy at the fact Brendon wasn't what he appeared to be. She tossed and turned through the night, but nothing else besides Brendon's dark side crossed her mind, leaving her in disarray.
