Daphne stood in front of me as I curled her long, orange hair. Just a dash of makeup and she still looked beautiful. I kissed the top of her head and made her look at herself in the mirror, "look at that!"

"Is daddy going make it?"

I turned my wrist to me and looked at my watch. It was 11:55. I took a deep breath and set my hands on my shoulders, "he should be."

I patted her out the bathroom door and shut it behind me. Alex walked by me, handing clover to me, "he's not here yet. I've got five minutes to spare."

"He has five minutes, Joanne."

I looked at my watch again and ran down the stairs, turning around, "two now!"

Daphne stood by the door. I wrapped my arm around her, trying to give her hope that Brendon was coming. I watched as she anxiously played with her fingers. She was wearing a dark blue sparkly dress, with black buckled shoes. Her hair was curled and it was all down. A dark blue headband gently placed on top of her head. I held Clover close. Watching the time tick down. Just as it hit twelve, the door opened quickly and Daphne's eyes widened and Brendon kneeled down and hugged her, "you made it."

Brendon got up, handing Daphne flowers. He walked over to me and kissed me, handing me flowers, "couldn't forget about you."

"You were almost late."

"we aren't co-parenting, Joanne."

"Well it feels like we are."

"Not in front of the kids, Jo. I'll talk to you after the dance."

I scoffed and he set his hand on Daphne's back and they walked out the door. I took a deep breath and gave the flowers to Alex, "happy early birthday."

She took them from me and stuffed them back into my hands. Was this 'talk' ever going to be successful?

Brendon Urie:
Daphne and I got out of the car. She quickly ran to me and grabbed my hand, dragging me in. I was devastated over what Joanne and I were going through. This job was the only income I had to take care of my girls. I personally, wouldn't want it any other way than how it is right now. Daphne looked up at me, pulling on my arm as the music blared, "daddy?"

I looked down at her, "yeah?"

She wiggled her finger, telling me to come down to her level. I did and she looked at me with the most innocent eyes, "are you and mommy going to be okay?"

I furrowed my eyebrows and pulled strands of her hair back—the same way I do with Joanne. I clicked my tongue against the roof of my mouth, "tsk. yea..." I said and pressed my lips together, shaking my head, "yeah. Relationships...well, I guess i'll teach you now."

"Hurry!"

"Relationships like your mom and I have takes a lot of hard work. A lot of fighting and forgiveness. It takes a lot of vulnerability and bravery. You gotta make sure you don't break their heart."

Daphne tilted her head and stared at me, "what if someone breaks my heart?"

I patted her on the back and kissed her forehead, "I'll handle that."

I got up and we walked to the middle of the dance floor. This has been my dream since I could remember. I did dances with Joanne. Clover was far too young and Daphne...she was like the perfect mix into our family. Her and I had a connection i've never had with another kid. It really was like she was my own. I held her hands, teaching her how to slow dance. She was a fast learner and got the hang of it. I pushed her out, twirling her around and brought her back to me. She demanded that I twirl around and I did.
