Sarah and I sat in the backyard as the weather was warm and sunny. I stretched out my legs on the smooth pavement as I used my arms to prop myself up, Nala snuggled next to me. Sarah's dad stood in the distance as he talked to some man, the two shaking hands as they had come to an agreement of some sort.
"What does your dad do?" I asked curiously. I'd seen him around a few times and he always looked as if he was in a rush to do things.
"I don't know, makes deals with people, that sort of thing" Sarah told me, unsure herself. I was a little surprised that she didn't know what her dad did but then realised, neither did I.
"Must be nice if y'all rich" I shrugged as I looked back towards her house, admiring it once again. Just as I did, a tall figure emerged from the house.
"Fuck" I muttered as I whipped my head back around.
"What?" Sarah asked as I watched her gaze behind me.
"Hey Hali" Rafe spoke as he stood in front of us, blocking the sunlight that shone on my face. "Can we talk?"
"I'm a little busy right now" I told him, avoiding any eye contact. Sarah got the hint and turned her gaze away from him too.
"Wanna go grab something to eat?" She asked me as she stood up.
"Yes i'm starving" I nod as she helped me up.
"Wait" Rafe stood in my way. "Please?"
"She said no" Sarah scoffed as she tried to pull me away.
"Shut up Sarah" He shot at the girl before turning back to me. "I'll be quick"
I rolled my eyes as I turned to Sarah. "I'll be just a second" He smiled as I reluctantly followed him inside, stopping in one of the lounge rooms as I stood a little further from him.
"Hey" Rafe began.
"Hi" I slightly smiled, not giving him anything.
"How are you?" He asked with a smile.
"Fine" I shrugged.
"Yeah?"
"How are you?" I asked, trying not to be rude. Why would he drag me away from Sarah for this?
"Yeah i'm good" He answered as he stepped closer to me. "I just wanted to apologise for the other day, i was wrong for what I did to JJ"
I rose my eyebrow, not believing him as he didn't sound very convincing. He sounded almost forced, as if he didn't mean a word he said.
