Claire's POV
"Mommy! It's sissy's birthday" Zealand says as he comes into my room
"Zealand, it's not nice to wake up before the birthday girl" I tell him and he gets on my bed
"But she's 1" he argues
"So? It's still... 5:30" I tell him and he sighs
"Ok mommy" he gets off my bed and starts to walk away
"Alright, son, you can help me make the cake before sissy gets up" I groan and get out of bed and he runs down the stairs. I give him some cereal for breakfast and he helps me make the cake. I wasn't really making it a themed party for Haven like I did for Zealand because Haven doesn't really watch tv or anything like that, so I just decided to make it pink and sparkly.
I let Zealand frost the cake with pink icing and let him like the left over batter in the bowl when I'm done making it... That was his favorite job.
After awhile I hear Haven calling my name and I go to her.
"Happy birthday princess" I say as I take her out of the crib. She laughs as I tickle her belly and kiss her cheek. I bring her downstairs and sit her in her high chair. Zealand goes to her and kisses her cheek
"Happy birthday sissy" he says and Haven smiles at him "we made you a cake" he shows off the cake and Haven just stares at it "is it pretty?" Zealand asks her and she just looks at it with a straight face
"I think so Z" I tell him "she's just waking up"
"Ok Mommy" Zealand says and hugs Haven.
Eileen and Neo come over and my mom comes over shortly after.
"Where's the birthday girl?" My mom asks and smiles at Haven "I see her" she goes to Haven and grabs her toes "look at you" she says "you're so pretty"
"I haven't got her birthday outfit on yet, she just woke up" I tell them
"That's ok, she's still a little princess" mom says and tickles her belly which makes Haven laugh.
Eileen takes Haven out of the high chair and spins her
"Happy birthday little Haven" Eileen says and Haven just keeps laughing. Her laugh was so contagious.
Zealand, Alice, Neo, and Scott started playing with the cars and dinosaurs. They had this hot wheel track that had a loopty loop and were driving the cars on it. Haven was crawling around on the ground and playing with her teething rings while I finished the cake. I go to Haven and pick her up
"Ok, let's go get your special birthday outfit on" I tell her and we go to her room.
I get her pink and white dress on and her little birthday crown. We take her out in the backyard and take pictures of her. I smile as my baby girl was now 1 year old. I miss having a baby, she was so tiny and we were so happy when she was born... When Ezra was here.
We sit her down in her high chair. I hold the cake in front of her with a number 1 candle. She just stares with a blank face. She looks at the cake, then she looks at me.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you" we sing "happy birthday to Haven, happy birthday to you" we all clap and she just stares at me while I light the candle
"Can you blow it out princess?" I ask Haven and she just stares at the flame. I let Zealand help her blow it out. We all clap and I cut the cake and give it to Haven. She looks at it and then at me. She sticks her fingers in it and puts it in her mouth
"Is that good?" Eileen asks her and Haven sticks her hand in it again and grabs a chunk out of it.
After she finishes it, I clean her up and let her open her presents. She opens my mom's present first. I help her open it and it was a pink sparkly bow and a matching skirt. I give her Eileen's next and it was a pink stuffed bear for bed and a little book for bed too called "goodnight moon". I give her mine and Zealand's gift next. I got her a Fisher price table set with lots of toys and colors on it.
"Do you like it princess?" I ask her and she starts playing with it
"I'm gonna guess, yes" Eileen says and I nod
"She's one happy birthday girl" I say and everyone agrees.
After everyone leaves, I let Zealand watch a movie before bed while Haven plays with her new toy. She really liked that toy.
I pick Haven up off the floor and hug her tight.
"Did you have a good birthday, baby girl?" I ask her and she puts her arms around my neck and rests her head on my shoulder. I sit on the couch and set her on my lap "I love you so much princess" I say, hugging her tighter "I know you'll do great things one day" I tell her and she looks at me with her little eyes so curious and beautiful... Just like daddy's "you will not remember your daddy, but just look in a mirror princess and you'll get a good idea" I say and kiss her cheek.
