Claire's POV
I got Zealand dressed in a cute little blue polo and khaki pants and I got Haven dressed in a blue dress and a little headband bow. It was Easter and we were going Easter egg hunting with Eileen and Neo after she got home from church.
I get dressed and do my hair and makeup. I breastfeed Haven and give Zealand his breakfast. Eileen comes over and we walk (not a far walk) to the Easter egg hunt. Zealand and Neo grab their baskets and start finding eggs and I push Haven in her stroller.
"Hey, what about a friendly bet?" Eileen says as we follow our crazy boys who are fishing for eggs.
"Ok, what is it?" I ask
"I bet Neo can find more eggs than Zealand" she explains and I nod
"No way, my boy is very observant, he'll find way more than Neo" I tell her
"So wanna bet?" She holds out her hand and I shake it
"Sure, what's the prize?" I ask
"Loser has to wear makeup put on by the winner's son" she says and I laugh "and they have to wear the makeup to dinner"
"Lucky for you, my son is very careful, so he'll do a good job" I tell her
"Hey, my son is gonna win" she tells me and I laugh again "he is terrible at finger painting, so I can't imagine how well he'll do on makeup" she adds
"Alright, I guess we'll see" I say, walking ahead of her.
After the hunt, we sit down and count the eggs, I count Zealand's first
"1" I say, taking the eggs out of the basket as I count "2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9..." I take the last one out "10" I say and stand up and pick Zealand up "good job buddy" I say and throw him in the air "you got so many"
"Can I have a piece of candy?" Zealand asks
"Just one" I tell him and he opens the eggs up. Eileen starts counting Neo's
"1" she starts "2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8..." She stops "that's it" she puts her head down and Neo jumps up and down
"Can I have one too Mommy?" Neo asks
"Sure baby, but just one" she says and stands up
"Zealand gets to do your makeup" I tell her
"I know I know" she groans
"I told you he was very observant" I say and she rolls her eyes
"Yeah yeah" Eileen says and I laugh.
We go home and I set Eileen in a chair and set Zealand in a chair in front of my makeup stand. Eileen takes off all her makeup already on. I tell Zealand what to do and he just nods and says "got it" every once in a while. I knew he wasn't listening very well so I can't wait to see how this turns out.
"Now if this goes well, my son could possibly be a makeup artist" I say and Eileen sticks her tongue out at me. I give Zealand a sponge and he starts putting foundation on Eileen's face
"Auntie Leen will be pretty" Zealand says while gently pressing the foundation on her
"Yeah, she will be very pretty" I agree and he nods. He rubs the foundation all over her face. He moves on to the blush after. He puts it all over her cheeks. He puts some eye shadow on her eyes and grabs the eyeliner and is about to put it on her eyes, but Eileen pulls away
"No way" she says "I need these eyes" she adds and I smile
"Ok bubba, no eyeliner" I tell him and he puffs his lip out "how about some mascara?" I hand him the mascara and he grabs it. Eileen gives me a mean glare
"That's worse" she says and I shrug
"Its either that or eyeliner" I tell her and she crosses her arms
"Fine but be gentle and careful" she tells him and he starts putting on the mascara.
When he finishes, Eileen looks in the mirror.
"Wow, it's actually pretty good Z" she says and he nods
"I did good" he says and looks at me "I did good mommy" he repeats and I nod
"Good job bubba" I tell him and I give him a high five. I turn to Eileen "Lets go out now" I flash a devilish smile
"Whoopie" she says unenthusiasticly.
After dinner, which was pretty uneventful, we go back to my house.
"Can I wipe this makeup off now?" Eileen asks
"Aw, don't you like Zealand's art?" I ask her and I pick up Zealand "she doesn't like your makeup art" I tell him and he puffs his lip out
"You don't?" He asks in a sad way and I could see she felt guilty
"I do, but it's very itchy" she says "you did a great job though" she tells him and he smiles
"Oh ok" he says and I put him down.
Eileen and Neo are getting ready to leave. Zealand hugs Neo goodbye and gives him and Eileen a kiss. My little boy sure loves giving kisses. They leave and I lay Haven down in bed and rock her to sleep while Zealand falls asleep on my lap.
"I'm one lucky mama" I say as I watch my kids peacefully sleep.
