Claire's POV
Today was my baby's 5th birthday! My baby was a whole hand😭😭how was that possible? He's supposed to stay my baby forever. He's been there since the beginning. He was there when I was a sophomore in high school... He was there when I graduated... He was there when I was at my hardest and most difficult point in my life. He was the light of my life and he still is. I've never loved a boy as much as I loved Zealand Knox.
He slept until 8:30 this morning. Haven slept in too. I was very confused... Ever since Haven was born, we've never slept past 8 pretty much, so this was new.
He jumped on my bed and started jumping
"I'm 5!" He yells and I smile
"Happy birthday bubba" I say as he jumps and then falls on his butt on the bed
"Thank you Mommy" he says and gets off the bed "is sissy awake?" She asks and I shrug
"Should we check?" I ask and he nods.
I grab his hand and we walk to Haven's room and I peek in. She was still sleeping. I lift him up to see Haven and he awes at her
"She's so cute" he says and I put him on my hip and we look at her sleeping
"Yes, she is" I tell him and he gently rubs her head. She slowly wakes up and I rub my hand on her back and she yawns and wakes up
"Good morning princess" I tell her "we gotta get ready for bubba's party" I say and I put Zealand down and pick Haven up and put her on the changing bed and change her diaper.
We go downstairs and I put Blippi on TV and get to work on his dinosaur cake. I give them a small breakfast since we were going out for lunch. I let Zealand open his present from me. He opens it
"What is this?" He asks holding up the tablet I got him
"That is a learning tablet" I tell him "it'll teach you how to read and do work on your letters and stuff like that" I add and he looks at it
"It has a pen" he tells me and I nod
"It'll help with your handwriting" I tell him and he hugs me
"Thank you Mommy" he says and I kiss his cheek
"You're welcome bubba" I say and he smiles
"Can I play with it now?" He asks and I start opening it
"It has some games that will teach you in a fun way" I explain and he takes it from me after I finish unwrapping it and turned it on. I helped him set the tablet up and he sits on the couch and plays with it.
Nolan comes inside carrying Zealand's giant present in his arms. Zealand goes over to him and hugs him
"Happy birthday little man" Nolan says and hands him the gift "I got you a little something" he says and Zealand opens it
"Woah, it's so cool" Zealand says, taking out a giant hot wheels track that was dinosaur themed "thanks daddy" he says, hugging Nolan. Haven waddles over to Nolan and he picks her up
"Hi munchkin" Nolan says and Haven smiles at him and hugs him. She puts her head on his shoulder
"Miss Haven is tired" I say and Haven doesn't move
"Of course she is" Nolan says "right before we go for lunch" he adds and I smile
"Thats how it goes" I say and he puts a hand on Haven's back
"Aren't you hungry?" He asks her and she doesn't move. She was drifting off
"She even woke up later today" I tell him and he rolls his eyes
"She's asleep isn't she?" He asks and I look at her and nod while quietly laughing. He groans and I take a picture
"How cute, she loves using you as a pillow" I say and he groans again
"I guess it's cute" he says. I kiss his cheek and kiss her cheek. I go to the living room
"Come on bubba, we are going to lunch" I tell him
"But sissy is sleeping" he tells me
"She'll wake up" I say, grabbing my purse and getting my shoes on.
Zealand gets his shoes and jacket on and I get Haven's jacket on while she sleeps in Nolan's arms. She was so peaceful and I didn't want the quietness to end. For the most part, she was a pretty calm and quiet baby, but she was always super hyper when Nolan was here because she loved playing with him. They have the best relationship. It's a life long friendship that will never end.
We go to the restaurant and we sit in a booth. Zealand and I sit in one booth and Nolan and still sleeping Haven sit in the booth across from us. I tell the waiter it was Zealand's birthday and they bring out a cake and sing to him, making Zealand feel uncomfortable, but he still goes along with it.
We order lunch and enjoy our company together. I still couldn't believe my beautiful baby boy was 5... How? He was just a little baby yesterday, and I blinked and he was a very grown up, happy 5 year old. I was sad he was 5 now, but I was happy about the little man he was becoming. He was mature and very helpful with Haven. He was for the most part, the most perfect son in the whole world and I was one lucky mama.
