"You need a healer", came Yichen's voice from beside Zhan, and Zhan shook his head his eyes still fixed on Wang Yibo. "Oh, God." Yichen inhaled sharply and Zhan barely suppressed a shudder at the sight of a torn arm in Wang Yibo's mouth. The detached, bloody limb hung from the wolf's mouth and revulsion rose in Zhan when he sensed the hatred, the fear clinging to Yibo. The dark emotions were so overpowering, they were actually making Zhan sick. Chang Xia and her men had begun retreating into the woods but the white wolf dragged dozens of them back, their sickening howls and screams ringing into the night. A loud yell grabbed his attention and Zhan shivered when Yibo spat the arm on the ground, biting off a jackal's head next. A woman screamed, probably the jackal's mate and she attacked Yibo next but a heavy paw landed on her neck, claws severing the head from her body. The body landed on the ground with a thud like a puppet without strings and Zhan squeezed his eyes shut, terrified of what he would see next. He breathed through his nose trying to shake off the images in his head but nothing seemed to help.
Familiar scents filled his lungs and Zhan found himself surrounded by his family and friends, all of them forming a circle around him, a protective glint shining in their eyes along with bone-deep fear. A dozen pairs of eyes were fixed over Zhan's shoulder on his mate, the gazes wary and filled with unease. The white wolf was unstoppable in his attacks, ripping and slashing but the alarming realization was that Yibo didn't know who were his enemies. The wolf attacked whoever passed him, tearing his own allies to shreds and everyone had started to take notice of that. They scooted away from the Wang Alpha, running in the opposite direction when they saw the feral wolf with fear in their eyes and the ones foolish enough to stand in his way found a terrifying end. A bitter, ice-cold venomous rage surrounded the air around Wang Yibo and Zhan felt his throat burn knowing he had driven Wang Yibo to this. But, more horrifying than any of that was the glint of satisfaction Zhan detected on Yibo's skin. He could sense Yibo's wolf feeding on the chaos and devastation around him and the realization had Zhan's spine stiffening. "We need to get out of here", came Lei's voice and Zhan's immediate reaction was to shake his head stepping in Yibo's direction but his knees trembled with fear. The growling, barking, and yelping continued around them and Zhan's eyes found Yibo's again, the red orbs fixed on him, nothing but wrath glinting in them.
"We really need to get out of here", gulped Yichen, the scent of his fear heavy in the air and he pulled Zhan but the Omega found himself glued to the spot, incapable of moving. "I can't leave", he pleaded even when fear radiated off him in waves and Lei glared at him. "You knew! You knew his wolf has gone feral", the lion shifter accused and Zhan looked away guilt shining in his eyes. Zhan was turned around harshly by his elbow and he found Wang Lei's darkened gaze pinned onto him. "He told me the incident with Gu Yinjun fucked up his wolf. The truth is that his wolf has gone feral. Am I right, A-Zhan?" Zhan went silent and a sense of foreboding came down to him, his form stiffening when he caught the anger buzzing under Lei's skin. "Take everyone inside, Yichen. None of us are safe. Wu Jing, Zhuocheng...have your packs guard the shelter gates. We'll need everyone we have. Yibo isn't himself right now." Zhan's lips parted in an attempt to defend Yibo but a sharp look from Lei cut him off. "You are going inside too, Xiao Zhan. I don't know why the fuck you thought it was okay to hide this from me but knowing exactly how dangerous a feral Alpha is, I know how stupid it is to be around Yibo until he calms down. You can either go willingly or I'll drag you back", warned the lion shifter and Zhan finally snapped out of his daze, his jaw hardening.
"I am not going anywhere", he announced with a stubborn jut to his chin, and the way Wang Lei's eyes narrowed and glowed a bright golden, Zhan's wolf snapped to attention. "Don't make me force you, A-Zhan. Look at him. Do you really think he'll come back from this anytime soon?" Zhan's eyes turned to Yibo's form again and he couldn't help the fear that encased his heart. The white wolf was standing over a pile of corpses, blood dripping down his muzzle, his claws, and the way he growled with his hackles raised, Zhan had nothing to say. Confused, enraged, and fearful, the wolf kept charging toward everything that moved and Zhan's heart sank. "Lei is right, A-Zhan. All of us need to stay away from Wang Yibo right now. Let him calm down", advised Shen Teng but Zhan had made his decision. "I am not-" "I don't know what you know about a feral animal but let me tell you the most important thing about them, Zhan", cut in Wang Lei, his tone hard and cold. "They are dangerous. Yibo doesn't know who are his enemies right now. He is trapped in his head probabIy reliving all the horrors he went through at the hands of Yinjun. We'll think of a way to calm him down but we need to leave right now."
