Trauma

It's now been a month and I'm back at work.
"Station 19 and 23 to 110 Wilson street , fifth floor of apartment, many occupants, spreading quickly"
We put on our gear rushing to get there.
I feel my hands shaking when the address is read out.
"That's my mommy's house! Carina's old house"
"Maya are you okay?"
"My dad- he must've escaped. Oh my god my mom could be in there!"
Everyone looks at me.
I feel panicky.
"BISHOP STAND DOWN"

I rush into the fire scene and the floorboard creeks
"MOMMY"
I call out
There's an explosion and I end up falling but I'm still calling for her.
I see a figure move and it's my mom.
She's coughing in her bedroom.
I try and put out the fire but it starts pack up again
It smells like petrol.
"He did this."
She screams as she's engulfed in a flame
She's coughing a lot and she can't speak.
The smell of burning flesh fills the house
I can't get to her.
My breath is shaking.
"Mommy I'm coming!"
I feel someone pick me up.
It's Sullivan.
"Maya come on let's go. The house is going to collapse!"
"NO NO I HAVE TO SAVE HER!"
"Maya you can't save her she's already gone."
I look and she's not coughing.
I start hysterically crying and screaming as he drags me out of there.
He puts me in the ambulance and Andy
"32 year old female , possible smoke inhalation"
I cough as they check my vitals
"I'm fine!"
I cry hysterically
"Sh sh calm down"
"I JUST LOST MY FUCKING MOTHER AND I AM IN SHOCK SO PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN"
The paramedic stares at me.
We arrive at the hospital.
"PAGE CARINA NOW PLEASE"
I cry.
Andy nods.
"I'll find her maya but you need to get checked out!"
I'm wheeled in on a stretcher and put into a hospital gown.
"Vitals are good. Heart rate is fine!"
I'm still crying hysterically.
Carina runs in and I hug her.
"IS SHE REALLY DEAD? HAVE THEY FOUND HER? HAVE THEY FOUND HIM"
"Who Maya? You're spiralling"
"My dad did it, she told me before she...."
I can't stop crying.
"It's okay baby"
She cradled me for hours until Andy and Ben came in.
"I could've saved her Ben. You shouldn't have taken me out"
"Maya , the building collapsed five seconds after we left the scene."
My tears fall quicker
"I'm so sorry Maya"
Andy hugs me as Carina kisses me.
"CSI team found your mom.. and your dad."
"I knew it."
"He stabbed her and then set fire to the place , she couldn't scream because her windpipe was punctured"
"She suffered"
I say as tears falls.
"We found something else Maya."
"What?"
"You have a sister Maya"
I sit there with my hands by my side shaking in shock.
