Chapter 29: Champagne And Sunshine

"Come on Ava just choose a dress already" Kai stresses, "No, I want to stand out at the Gala, and I think you should do the same too" Ava suggests. "Come on, we've been here for hours just choose something", "I just can't choose" Ava replies. "Okay how about I get a private fashion designer to design sets for the both of us?" Kai implies, "Okay, fine by me". "Great, I'll have them send over your dress when it's done", " Wait you're not coming home with me?" Ava asked distressingly."I just have a couple of things I have to take care of, I'll meet you at the Gala, Okay?" Kai asked, "No, please stay" Ava Uttered. "Ava", "Fine, but if you get home and see me dead on the floor it's your fault" Ava spoke. "Yeah, I doubt that will happen," Kai says.It's been 30 minutes and Ava finally gets home, she goes upstairs and into her room to find a hanger with a dress on it, "Well that was fast". Ava removes the covering cloth from the hanger and stares at the Beaded Cape-Sleeve Georgette Gown. "Holy shit, well this should be interesting", Ava got in her dress and admired it from top to bottom, suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Come in", John wick (the guard's new nickname) enters the room and says "Your ride to the Gala has arrived", "Okay I'll be down in a minute" Ava replies.John Wick leaves the room and Ava admires the dress one last time before fixing her hair and going downstairs and into the car. It is now night and Ava finally arrives at the entrance, she looks out the window and sees Kai outside waiting for her. The car pulls up right beside Kai, Ava gets out and Kai holds her hand while bringing her closer to him. "Ava you look so beautiful tonight", "Thanks Baby, I can say the same for you handsome" Ava returns the compliment."Come on" Ava and Kai begin walking into the building, they enter and as they walk across the room, they can hear people admiring their outfits. "Is it me or is everyone staring at us?" Ava asks, "I think they are baby," Kai replies. Ava and Kai walk over to the bar and sees Ermani chugging a Glass of liquor "I don't think you should be getting drunk" Kai says, "Well, this snooze fest could go downhill at any moment so getting drunk kinda feels like the way to go" Ermani stated. "Okay well have fun with that" Ava says, "Mhm"."Come on Ava let's go for a dance" Kai says, "Okay". Ava and Kai made their way to the middle of the ballroom and began sweeping their bodies across the room, Kai kept searching around the room with his eyes. "Are you expecting to get shot in the back?" Ava asks, " Is that a real question? It's just like Ermani said, this could go downhill really fast" Kai replies. Kai looks up at the balcony across the room and pauses, 'Guess I was right, look at the balcony". Ava looks up and looks at the balcony and looks at a man, "Who am I looking at?" she asked. "That my darling is Ho'Zeah Ghul". "He doesn't look as intimidating as I thought he would," Ava observed. A server approaches them. "Champagne?", "Yes, thank you" Ava says. "None for me" Kai replies, "Okay".Ava takes a glass and the Server walks away. Kai looks over to the bar and sees Ermani waving at him, Kai waves back but Ermani waves his hands faster and gestures to something. Kai brushed him off and thought he was just drunk, "I think Ermani is way too drunk, right Ava?". Ava didn't answer, she just kept looking down, "Ava are you okay?" Kai questions. "I don't think so I-" All of sudden Ava collapses to the ground. "Ava!" Kai holds her head up and tries to wake her up, "Ava! AVA WAKE UP!". All Ava could hear was Kai's voice slowly fading away until she couldn't hear anything.
