JENNIE

The next morning I woke up quite early. Too early...

The alarm clock said 5:30 a.m. and made me sigh briefly. Especially now that I had a little break from everything, I had to wake up so early. It sucks, just sucks.

I tried to close my eyes and fall asleep again, but nothing happened after 10 minutes. That's why I got up. I stretched to the adjoining window and looked out.

It was still quite dark outside. Only the moon gave light, it beamed into the garden. The whirlpool looked incredibly cozy in the moonlit light. In any case I would go in once but I didn't feel like it just yet. I thought back to last night for a moment.

Of course I heard Lalisa going down the stairs. She had walked rather quietly, but despite that I had heard her. Actually, I was just waiting for it because I was worried...

Yes, I was worried... I was so mad at Lisa just because she... Oh, I didn't know myself.

She was annoying me and just wouldn't give in. Somehow I just overreacted. Like really overreacted. I saw exactly how it hurt her and it just hurt me as much.

I don't know how it came about, but Lisa seems to have become important to me. More important than I'd like to admit...

Although I was more careful this time, it still didn't help.... I told myself everything, everything that could pull me away from her.

To be honest I was pretty upset with myself. It couldn't be true that it's going to be like this again. No, she was different. She was the complete opposite of Lisa. She was one of a kind and Lisa would never get close to her. She was too amazing for that. Or maybe not? I did not know it! It drove me crazy! I thought no one would ever get close to her again... Was I really that wrong?

Shaking my head, I walked away from the window and left my room. I wanted to stop thinking about it. I didn't do anyone a favor. I quietly descended the stairs before entering the kitchen. I just wanted to make breakfast, so to speak as compensation. Also, I'm less likely to believe that Lisa would even lift a finger for me today.

I searched the internet a little for recipes for the morning until pancakes were suggested to me again and again. Well, then it would be pancakes today. If that went wrong, I would have the excuse that I was just too inept to cook.

I prepared the ingredients and mixed them together to form a dough. So far so good. I heated the pan and filled it with batter from time to time, so that 5 pancakes were made in one pan. After that, I turned them over and over again until they got a nice brown color. When the pancakes were on the plate I looked at the clock. 7:30 a.m.

As if at the push of a button, I heard the door open from the very top. Apparently someone couldn't sleep either. Judging by the noise, she went straight down the stairs until she was on the bottom floor. A little overwhelmed, I sat down at the table and checked again if everything was fine.

When Lisa entered the kitchen, she didn't see me at first, instead knitting her eyebrows. She probably smelled the pancakes.

"Good morning." I said happily, but heard my insecurity.

She looked over at me a little startled. However, instead of hearing anything from her, she sat silently at the table and looked at the pancakes.

"I did it this morning. You can eat them."

After I said this, she took some and poured syrup over them. There was silence throughout the house, only the clinking of cutlery could be heard. My throat was a little dry, so I took a quick sip and drank some water. I just had to say something now.

"Listen, Lisa. I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I overreacted. I was just... well, somehow not in a good mood and I took it out on you. I'm really sorry."

Then she didn't answer anymore but ate the last bite of her pancake before she got up and left the kitchen. Was that it now? Was that all she wanted to say about it?

Shaking my head, I cleared the table and exhaled heavily. Was she going to keep quiet about me for the rest of the day? It was probably my punishment...

I wouldn't have thought so, but she drew it completely through. As she walked down the hall, she didn't look at me. Even when she was watching TV and I asked her if we could watch football, she didn't answer. At lunch she indulged in my food without any comment. To sum it up: It was probably the most exhausting and depressing day of my life.

I never realized it, but Lisa seemed to be having an effect on me. Right now that she wasn't talking to me, I realized that. It was just hell...

It was now 10 p.m. and I was still in the living room with Lisa. We watched some documentary. When this was over, Lisa got up and apparently wanted to leave.

"When are you going to stop not talking to me. It's kinda freaking me out and I know I screwed up or said that I'm really sorry, Lalisa." She listened to it, but walked out with no emotion when I finished speaking. Well at least something...

I sighed a bit disappointed and turned off the TV. When I looked outside I saw the moon again and how it was shining. I quickly decided to go into the whirlpool. I quickly got a pair of swimming shorts from my room and put them on right away. I quickly got a towel from the bathroom.

When I was back downstairs, I opened the patio door and stepped out. It wasn't freezing cold, but warm was something else. I quickly put the towel aside and approached the whirlpool. I climbed the 2 steps before putting my first foot in the water. It was wonderfully warm and made me sigh. Then I got in with the other foot and slowly let myself slide into the water. I was able to adjust the whirlpool on the console, which is why I immediately set a nice dark blue tone and made the whirlpool bubble. I could relax slowly and surrendered to the water.

There was silence for a few minutes, the moon was shining. All you could hear was the bubbling of the whirlpool and a few animal noises from further away.

Suddenly I heard a little push. It was the sound of the patio door making me slowly open my eyes again. There I saw Lisa wrapped in a towel.

"May I sit down with you?" I heard her murmur so softly that I almost didn't understand her.

Somewhat overwhelmed, but still happy, I nodded. She was talking to me again!

Slightly smiling, she approached the whirlpool and quickly got rid of her towel. Beneath was a beautiful body, covered only by her bikini. I found myself staring. I shook my head and concentrated back on her face. She hadn't noticed anything because she was focused on getting warm as soon as possible. When that was done, she sighed and leaned directly across from her. There was silence for a moment before she lifted her head.

"I'm sorry for how I was today... I just wanted to make you feel a little down."

"Believe me, I felt down. I'm sorry too, really, Lalisa." She smiled briefly.

"Yes, I think I know that by now." A smile escaped me too.

"We can have a drink to celebrate the end of our argument." I then pointed to the bottles at the edge of the hot tub. She glanced at the bottles before she nodded.

"I think we should."

We should rather not have done it.
