JENNIE (a few hours earlier)

"Fuck!" I slammed my fist on the table. The pain was noticeable but I pushed it into the background.

"Calm down first." Anthony tried to calm my agitated nature, but I ignored that too.

"What if they kill her? What if she's already dead?!"

Just the idea of Lisa dying in my hands makes me gag.

"It's all my fault. I neglected work. Just because I have to fall in love again! Everything is going the same as with Bella!"

Bella. I hadn't thought about her for a long time. How come? I shook my head. I remembered the sentence I had said just a few weeks ago.

Of course, Bella was my first real love, but I slowly realized that she might not be my true love. I knew it sounded so cheesy, luckily I would never say it out loud, but that's just how it was. Lisa had shown me other sides. Other sides of me, of this relationship and of her. It was clear that things didn't always go harmoniously. I hardly had any arguments with Bella. Was that because we harmonized so well or were we too busy with ourselves?

"Jennie?" Anthony snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry, but you were staring into space."

"I was thinking, you stupid." Anthony rolled his eyes and flopped casually onto the sofa. I looked at him confused.

"Why are you so relaxed?"

"Excuse me?" He straightened up again and looked at me more tensely. He knew something.

"You act like it's not a big deal that Lisa is gone. Are you even worried? Maybe-" I paused for a moment.

"Or maybe you have something to do with her disappearance?" Anthony blinked at me a few times before he could really answer me.

"You don't honestly believe that I had something to do with her disappearance, right?"

"You suddenly show up right after I got attacked by those fuckers and now Lisa's gone and you're calm personified!" Anthony hung his head.

"I didn't kidnap her but I think I know who has her." Before I could even ask Anthony, I got a message, the message with the answer.

"Liam."

LISA

"Don't act like that. Come down. We could talk a little."

"I don't give a fuck about your talk. Who do you think you are?" I slammed the door in anger.

This idiot. This complete idiot! Panting, I laid back in bed and started cuddling with my pillow. I wanted Jennie back. Just have her with me again. Her arms wrap around my body, warming and protecting it.

"Lalisa!" Growling, I opened my eyes. Not again.

"Lisa, get your butt down here now. It's important." I got up from the bed and walked back to the door I had just slammed shut.

"Liam, I-"

"Shut up and come down." I left the room angry and clattered down the stairs.

"Now listen to me carefully, you pompous idiot. I won't say another word to you until Jennie gets here. Have you-" I looked into the hallway and recognized 3 people. My idiot brother, Anthony and-

"-Jennie." I breathed her name.

I wanted to fall into her arms and kiss her, but Liam's look stopped me. He looked quite suspicious, which is why I immediately pretended. I continued down the stairs after stopping when I saw Jennie.

"My God, that took a long time. Why do I have you as my bodyguard?" My lecture seemed to confuse Jennie at first because the smile she had been wearing until now had now disappeared. Instead, her confused look dominated her face.

"You really can't be bothered to take care of me." Jennie didn't seem to understand why she slowly hung her head.

"I'm sorry, really, Lisa." No, she screwed up.

"Oh come on, Jennie. We both know you're acting this out." I carefully stepped on her foot, making her look up at me.

With the expression on my face I tried to make it clear to her that I wasn't serious about any of this, I discreetly pointed at Liam and apparently it worked.

"You got me." Jennie sat up again and looked into my eyes. How I would love to take a closer look at them now.

"Next time, be more careful. You don't want me to follow you everywhere, do you? Otherwise we'll have to take action." Rolling my eyes, I turned to my brother.

"You send me people like that. Hard to believe, right?" Liam, on the other hand, just grinned. So he bought it from us.

"You can't stand each other, can you?" Shrugging, I didn't pursue the question any further.

He didn't even know how much we actually liked each other. Anthony looked at us amused before turning to Liam.

"You really got me into trouble, you idiot. Jennie almost wanted to rip my head off. You know, 'work is above all else' after all." Well, Anthony played along.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I couldn't wait any longer." I cleared my throat briefly so that everyone looked at me.

"Now that that's settled. Could we please go again?" I looked at Lisa, but she grimaced.

"I wanted to talk to Liam about that." Her gaze turned to Liam.

"I was robbed at the house a few days ago. Lisa wasn't there, luckily. I thought it was just a one-time thing. They had nothing to do with Lisa, which is why I thought we could stay there. Now I found out that they have something to do with Lisa's case. That's why we can't go back. We need a new place to stay."

"You are always welcome."

I opened my eyes in shock. Does that mean we stay here? With Liam?
