LIAM (a few years ago)
"Useless brat, get away otherwise more will happen to Lalisa!" I deftly looked into my aunt's eyes. My mother's sister and my father's wife. How everything can change...
"Are you serious? You are a witch. An old bitter witch."
"And yet your father loves me."
"Actually he doesn't love you, he loves the way you look because you look like our mother only in ugly." She snorted bitterly.
"Let's see how Lalisa reacts when she gets hit."
"You don't dare." I stared with wide eyes at the woman who was more inhuman than ever before.
"Go away. As far as I'm concerned, I'll leave her alone, but as soon as I see you again, she'll pay for it."
I exhaled heavily. I didn't want her to have such power over me. I stalked down the hall to the front door before throwing it open and slamming it shut with force. Never. Again. Would. I. Enter. This. House.
I didn't know where I was supposed to go. I had no family to count on. No friends my father wouldn't check on. I had to leave. Completely gone. For Lalisa. That was the only reason.
With the money I had saved, I decided to buy a ticket. A ticket to another country. Maybe Australia was the best. It was far away from here, far away from the witch.
(1 month before the present)
"Liam?"
"What is it?" I looked at my roommate with raised eyebrows.
"I think your family is having problems."
"When did they not have that?" I laughed ignorantly and went back to my report. But the blonde didn't look at all amused.
"Your sister. She has problems." This time I would pay more attention.
"What kind? Drugs? Boys? I swear to God if one bastard got her pregnant." Blondie laughed.
"That's your protective brother speaking."
"Speak now. What's wrong with her?"
"From what I understand, she was kidnapped and should be thrown from the roof."
"HUH, WHAT?!" I jumped with full force from my chair.
"We have to help her." But my roommate remained sitting quietly in his chair.
"Come on!" But he shook his head.
"Chill, Liam. She's out of danger. At least for now. I heard she was assigned a bodyguard. They escaped and have been in hiding ever since." I breathed out a little more relieved.
"So bodyguard? Who is it?" I looked at him curiously.
"Jennie Kim."
"Jennie? The Jennie? Our Jennie?" A nod was his answer.
"Wow, what have the idiots from the administration done? You know what the situation is like."
"Your father wanted the best and Jennie-"
"-Jennie is the best." I finished the sentence
Jennie was truly the best and I was happy to see her in her hands. She was safer there than anywhere else.
"I want to see her."
"Liam, do you really think-"
"I finally want to see my little sister again. Hold her in my arms again and protect her."
"Should I track down Jennie?" I nodded.
"If I contact her then-"
"No. We'll get her. I don't want Jennie to sit next to us like a watchdog for a few hours and ruin our time together. I want her to myself. At least a few hours."
"I understand. But do you think it would be really good like this?"
"Yes, please make it possible for me."
"I do what I can."
(present)
I told her the story of how I found out about her situation, but I left out the fact that I knew Jennie.
"So you did all this to spend time with me?" I nodded.
"I'm sorry for how things turned out."
"I'm sorry too." She lowered her head.
"Do you want to take a look at the house?" I asked calmly. She seemed interested in the house since she was here. She nodded slowly.
Maybe it was better that way. So we could both slow down a little and maybe get a little closer to each other. We left the living room through a slightly larger door. There was my little library that I had put together myself.
"You're welcome to take a book if you want." She shook her head.
"I don't like reading that much." I smiled slightly at that.
"Somehow I expected that."
I could tell that she didn't take a book out of pure politeness. Not because she didn't want to read, but rather because the situation was still too foreign to her. Sometimes I really wondered about my good people skills.
"There's the kitchen." I pointed to the other side of the room, to the door.
"It's still a bit in the renovation program. But it should be finished soon."
"Upstairs are the bedrooms and bathroom. We have 3 bedrooms in total."
"For what?"
"Well one is mine and the other is a guest room."
"And the third?" Liam seemed a little irritated by the question, so I quickly asked another question.
"Who has helped you?"
"What?" Liam turned to me, confused.
"Who was your roommate? Who was the Blondie?"
"Is that really relevant? You probably don't know him anyway."
"Liam, just say it." He rolled his eyes.
"You're just as curious as you were back then." I smiled slightly.
"So?" Liam let out a short breath before he started to breathe speak.
"Anthony."
