Ellie begins to think Sasha is the only one that understands what she's feeling.

Ellie feels bad she didn't notice Sasha's pain.

Sasha had fallen in love with Bob and when things were going good for them, she lost him.

Then, when the others were checking out Noah's community only to find it was in ruins, Tyreese was taken from her as well.

Ellie stuck close to Sasha after that.

The group was on the road for awhile after Tyreese's death. No food and little water. They lost their final vehicle after a day or so.

Water on the road with a note from 'a friend'made Ellie question how low people would go to kill them.

When the storm came through and Daryl led them to a barn he'd found when looking for water, Ellie felt memories infest her brain.

After the storm, Maggie led Sasha and Ellie outside to watch the sunrise.

Ellie apologized to Sasha for not seeing her pain.

Sasha apologized that they had to go through said pain.

That's when a man named 'Aaron' made himself known and things were thrown into a storm of confusion.

They were supposed to split up and go to Aaron's community. While seperated, they found Aaron's friend Eric who had injured his ankle.

Daryl found a hodeout as they waites for Rick, Michonne, Glenn, and Aaron.

Daryl ztood outside on watch and Ellie sat on the floor by him to get some fresh air.

Ellie hadn't slept in four days.

And people were beginning to notice.

It started with Maggie. But, Maggie had barely slept any so she wasn't sure how to bring up the conversation and not sound hypocritical.

Carl was next. He'd approached Ellie in the group's walking formation and apologized for the fight at the churcch when he noticed the bags under her eyes. At first, he thought she'd been crying again until he saw how her fdet dragged. He put the pieces together with painful ease.

Daryl was caught up in a million other things. But, he caught on while they were waiting.

"Why don't you go on in? I think I can handle watch," he offers.

"I'm not watching. I'm breathing," Ellie retorts.

Daryl kneels by her, using his bow to keep himself from being wobbly.

"Ellie, I.." he sighs.

Ellie looks at him. "You're the one person that doesn't give me sad eyes and 'sorry's. Don't start now."

Daryl would be lying if he said he wasn't relieved. He wasn't good at comforting people, let alone kids.

"All right." He reaches into his pocket, fiddling with the scissors.

"Thanks," Ellie says. "It just gets loud sometimes."

Daryl nods in agreement.

"Lok, you can take it or I mean.. You can punch me in the throat but.." Daryl holds the scissors out. "I don't know why I took it. But.."

Ellie carefully takes the steel in hand, turning it around a few times. Daryl had gotten most of the hlood off- though, there was still some dried in the crevice.

"She was strong. She loved you. You gotta know that much, at least."

Ellie huffs. She had run out of tears. Literally. She hadn't had enough water in her system to try and cry or sweat.

The bigger part of her chest felt hollow. She felt empty. She has since the prison was ruined.

Daryl didn't give her sad eyes or make her feel worse. She could talk to him like a normal human being.

"It feels like it's one thing after another."

Daryl hums, letting her know he heard her.

"Lose our home.. My.. him.. is taken away. I find out my life has been a lie. Beth is.." She sighs heavily. "I know we all feel like the world is out to get us but.. It's really coming for me right now."

"The world is a shit show. If there's a God, he sure likes using us as punching bags."

Ellie scoffs at the image. "I was supposed to put Him first. Praise be to Him and His glory.."

Daryl had never really had a religious life. Sure, he went to church a few times growing up but.. the concept was still foreign.

"A man killed my grandfather. A man has always been our leader. A man corrupted that Dawn woman and turned her into something else. God seems to think misery is entertaining."

Ellie looks up at Daryl. "No offense, but I'm really starting to hate men."

Daryl chuckles.

"Abraham and Rick nearly tore the group apart. Eugene lied about everything and got people killed. Seriously, what is it with you guys?"

"My old man was a piece of shit. Merle was a piece of shit. I'm a piece of shit. Guess it's just part of us."

"That sucks."

Daryl nearly smiles. "I'm sorry for us men sucking."

Ellie shrugs with a hum. She turns the scissors around again just as a whistle is heard down the road.

"There they are," Daryl mutters, standing up and whistling back.

Ellie purses her lips at the sight of Rick, Glenn, Michonne, and Aaron.
