"This place is crazy," Anna inspects. "It's like.. Amish. Is that racist?"

My head tilts back as I laugh and bump into her side. "I like it here. It reminds me of my old home. Before the walkers and all."

"A farm?"

"Big farm," I nod. "Family farm."

"Farmer's daughter."

"Farmer's granddaughter. My dad mostly helped with the animals."

Anna laughs and my heart flutters.

"Excuse me, Ellie?" a woman asks.

"Yes.." I pause, not knowing her name. "Ma'am?"

"I just wanted to give you this. You, Sasha, and your mom really helped us a ton last night," she says, extending a box to me.

I look down at the box. Clothes. Jewelry. Some little candies wrapped in a bow.

"Thank you," I smile gratefully.

She pats my hand. "My name is Tammy Rose. My husband, Earl, also wants to thank you himself."

"Sure thing," I accept.

"He'll be right over at the blacksmith table when you have a chance."

"Thank you, Ms. Tammy."

Tammy walks away and Anna nudges my arm. "What kind of super cool hero shit did you guys do?"

I scoff. I extend the box to her and she takes it from me and I lead the way to the blacksmith table.

"The Saviors came in last night. They bolted everyone's doors closed. They set fires and left the gates open. There was a car, too.. it was like caged in and playing loud music, so it drew a bunch of walkers inside."

Anna sighs with a look of disgust.

"Me, Sasha, and Jesus took care of the walkers. Mom took care of the car."

"How?"

"She ran over it."

Anna pauses. I stop walking and turn back to her.

"She ran over a car?"

"Yeah.. With a tractor."

"Dude.."

"What? It wasn't her first time doing it."

"Dude!"

"Is that not normal?"

Anna goes to speak but the words get caught in the air. She sighs and shakes her head.

We finally make it to the blacksmith table where an elder man hurriedly sets his tools down, wipes his hands on his apron, and hurries over.

"Ah, Ellie. Goodness, my Tammy Rose must've found you," he greets.

"Yes, sir. Is there something you need?"

He smiles. "God bless. All that you and your family have done and you're still asking if I need anything."

I shrug gently. It was the right thing to do.

"I noticed through my window while you were fighting the walkers that they're a lot bigger than you. I heard Jesus and Sasha attempting to help you out. I had an idea."

He reaches under a table and takes an object out.

"Balls on a string?" I tease.

"These are made of metal from the car your mom ran over," he points to the ball on either end of the wire. "The blade as well."
