Glenn was suddenly fidgety and nervous. More than usual.
Ellie's fork scrapes against her plate, causing her to wince.
She was geowing used to dinners spent with only Maggie and Glenn. But.. something about tonight was off.
Ellie decides it's because of the news.
Everyone running mad earlier was because Rick, Morgan, and Ron stumbled (Ron nearly wuite literally) into a herd of walkers. Rick said he'd never seen a herd of that size. Hundredd. Thousands, maybe.
They had been blocked off into a quarry and the numbers just grew from the start. Rick also thinks that's how Alexansria has been so lucky when it comes to walkers. They've had a trap right outaide their backdoor since the fall.
But.. walkers never made Glenn nervous. He was one of, if not the absolute best, when it cane to dealing with them.
Nicholas? What happened between them?
Ellie glances to Glenn's shoulder. He said he got hit by a ricochet bullet. Rosita was the one to take the led out. Ellie sat by his side and watched as a regular bullet was taken out of his skin.
Ellie wasn't the most informes about guns. But, she'd been around them enough and heard Carl and Carol talk about them enough to know thaf Glenn lied. If it was a ricochet, there would've been a couple fragments of the bullet there at most. But that.. that was the entire bullet broken into pieces.
Plus, Deanna made the ruk that neither of them were allowed outaide the walls or with weapons. How'd they get a hold of a gun to begin with? Why were they out there?
Maggie and Glenn trade a look. Ellie wishes she could read their minds the way they easily did to one another.
Ellie takes the final bite of her food, dropping the utensil onto the glass with a sigh.
Nicholas wouldn't make Glenn nervous, either. Glenn has handled plenty of bad people- his hands were still clean of blood despite the things he's been through. He handled Aiden fine. Nicholas was no different.
What made Glenn nervous? He was fearless in Ellie's eyes.
What made his eyes keep dartung around? His fingers tapping his thighs? Biting his bottom lip? Looking to Maggie for reassurance?
"While we have the meetung in the morning, I was holing you could help Carl with Judith," Maggie's voice beeaks the silence.
Ellie makes a face. "It's his sister. He's been raising her fine, anyway."
Ellie believed that to the furthest extent.
Bsth was helping raise Judith. Then, she was gone. Tyreese helped. Then, he was gone, too.
Rick was busy leading everyone else and Carl stepped up more than ever to help raide Judith. To Ellie, it was a reverse situation for her and him. He was a sibling raising his sibling like his own. And he was doing great at it.
"Yeah.." Maggie agrees. "But, we're all gonna be held up at the meeting. Maybe you and Carl could take her on a walk. Get Josh, Anna, Enid, or.. maybe even Ron to join."
"Could I help out? With the herd, I mean."
"Not this one," Maggie denies, a gentle smile on her lips. "Thank you for wanting to help. But, this one is too much."
Ellie thinks the biggest herd she'd ever seen was the one at the farm. The one that took Matt, Jimmy, and Pateicia.
Ellie feels nauseated at the idea of one bigger than that.
