Ellie wakes with a sharp inhale that nearly sends her into a choking fit.
"Ellie, are you okay?" Anna asks, finally waking Ellie.
Ellie grabs Anna's forearms, planting herself to reality.
"You were screaming in your sleep," Anna informs. "I.. I didn't know what to do, I just-"
Ellie places both hands on either side of Anna's face, tugging her into a kiss.
Anna startles, eyes wide. She could taste Ellie's tears as they fell between their lips. Slowly, Anna's eyes close, just barely kissing Ellie back.
Ellie pulls away, their foreheads still touching. She sniffles her tears back, shakily breathing from the dream and kiss.
"I can't lose you.. That's why."
"Why.. Why, what?" Anna dumbly questions, her head wasn't working right now.
"Why we can't be friends. Why I can't get close to you. Everyone close to me dies. I have to keep going and live with that. I can't.. I can't live with a world that you get hurt in because of me."
Anna's heart swoons.
"I'm sorry," Ellie whispers.
Anna goes in to kiss Ellie again, but Elie dodges and stands up. Anna nearly falls to the floor and Ellie runs outside.
