Sabrina had invited you to a small gathering at her house so you cod meet some people, because you were new to the area. But when you arrived, her backyard was full of people and you couldn't find Sabrina anywhere.
You were about to get yourself a water when you spotted Sabrina. She apologised and told you that everyone here was really nice. You brushed her off and told her that you'd be fine.
If only you believed that yourself.
You were going to leave, but then you changed your mind when you spotted a small pathway. You sat on the bench and watched as the sunset. You were snapped out of your head when you heard footsteps coming towards you.
"Never seen you around here before" his voice was soothing.
"I'm new, Sabrina is my friend" you paused. "My work friend, we met a week ago and we hit it off. It's my second week here"
"Sabrina's great"
You laughed and agreed with him.
"I'm Matt" he approached you with his hand out.
You smiled, told him your name and shook his hand. Then, he sat down beside you.
"I like your tattoos. Did you get them done here?" You asked, admiring his arm.
"My friend did them. She's really talented. She did my brothers too"
You hummed.
"Got any of your own?"
"I have two, but no one knows about them" you started. "I have three stars behind my ear" you paused and crossed your foot across your thigh. "I got a peach when I was sixteen because I wanted a tattoo and still, I don't know the meaning of it"
"Peaches are sweet. Just like you"
You blushed and looked at him. "That's your first impression of me?"
On a bench, watching the sunset, you and Matt became friends.
~
"Matt!" You yelled, walking in the front door. "I've no butter left"
"Why did you break into my house?" He said, following you into the kitchen.
"I didn't break in" you said, spreading Matt's butter on your toasted slice of bread. "The door was open"
Matt stood there watching you take a bite of your toast. "Peach, how are you already eating when you've been here less than five minutes?" He narrows his eyes and looks at his unplugged toaster that sits next to his coffee machine that is surprisingly already brewing. "Did you run here with it in your hand?"
You scratched your neck. "Uh..of course not"
"Right, you wouldn't because you live a thirty minute walk away. Running only means you'd get more germs on it."
You rolled your eyes. "Are you hungry? I'll make you something before I have to go home"
Matt smiled, agreeing because he loved your cooking. "I'll have some eggs, please"
You nodded, before moving to the fridge to get the eggs. Matt stared at you and thought back to when he first met you. Matt owed everything to Sabrina for bringing you out when you first got here.
He then furrowed his eyebrows. It was a Saturday and you always stayed with him on the weekend.
"You usually stay over?" Matt asked as you handed him a plate. "Why do you have to leave?"
"Kenzie set me up on a date" you looked down at your nails and frowned at the chips they had from all the cleaning you did at home. "I'm going to cancel it"
