You leaned against the doorframe, your hand placed on your baby bump. Your pregnancy was easy up until now, the third trimester. For the first few months, your skin glowed, you were loving life and your hair was amazing.
But now, you just wanted the baby out of you. You had swollen feet, back pains, everything felt like a chore and you were exhausted. Having a helpful husband helped you feel less moody, angry, the list could go on. Hormones were crazy.
Speaking of Matt, you sighed, looking at him sat on the floor with pieces of unfurnished baby furniture around him. He sat on the carpet, thinking about how the wood could somehow build a crib.
Matt's hair was all over the place, his cheeks were red as his tongue was sticking out. You could tell he was very focused on the task in front of him.
The task was putting up the baby furniture in the nursery. You tried to tell him that you would ask the delivery men to put it up, but Matt being the guy he was insisted he do it himself for his son.
"Are you sure you don't need any help?" You asked and he looked up at you, waving you off as you went closer to him. He wanted to prove he was going to be a good dad, that was a hero and he could do anything, you didn't need him to prove it to you.
"It's all good, I'm sure it's easy" He smiled as you ran your fingers through his hair.
"Love it when you do that" He said and you laughed.
"I know you do" You replied, looking down at the mess. Hammers, screwdrivers, wood, every piece of equipment you could imagine was all over the floor and you wished Matt would listen to you.
He reached over for the hammer and some wood to your understanding, was for the crib he was currently building.
"Be careful. I'm too pregnant to drive you to the hospital if you hurt myself" You joked, making him smile.
"Don't worry, it's easy work, like I said" With that, he hammered down on the wood, sticking the nail into it to join the two pieces together.
"Our baby will be sleeping in this soon, can you believe that?" He asked when the crib was more built together. It was white and went well with the yellow walls of the nursery.
Matt reached over to kiss you on your cheek and then walked back, accidentally, into the cot and the next thing you know is all of it comes tumbling down.
"Fuck" he grumbles, looking up at you with an awkward smile.
"Easy work, huh? I'm calling a professional to come do it tomorrow" You groaned, shaking your head. As much as you loved Matt, he did sometimes frustrate you and with your hormones, sometimes became very often.
I love you" Matt says, now much more relived after hearing what you said, his voice was soft and gentle as his lips come down to yours in a passionate kiss and with that the two of you finally giggled it off and walked (well you waddled) into your room to have a good night of sleep, making sure to remember to call the men to come in and fix up the nursery tomorrow.
At this rate you'd probably give birth to the baby before you could finish off the nursery.
