Matt wasn't sure how it happened, other than that it did, very quickly. Too quickly for him to realise he just hurt you. Here you were with a trickle of blood running down your forehead. Of course it was an accident, he wouldn't hurt you on purpose.

The day started out normal for the two of you. He had the day off from his usual responsibilities, so you wanted to spend the day with him. You found yourselves lounging by the pool. Matt had been urging you to get into the pool for a half an hour, but you were content with your book.

"I promise when I read this chapter, I'll get in with you" you told him

You thought that would settle him, but he didn't give up. A minute after, you began feeling water droplets on your head.

You looked up to see your boyfriend with a devilish grin. He grabbed the book and picked you up, ignoring your protests.

"Matt! I swear you are not throwing me into the pool!"

"I think I am"

Just like that, he threw you into the pool. It didn't feel right when you hit the water.

The pool had large steps leading into it on both sides. As Matt threw you, he didn't realise even though the water was deep, the 3rd step was only 2 inches deep and that was just the height your body sank to before your head collided with the step.

It didn't knock you out, thankfully, or you would have drowned. Matt thought you were dead. Your eyes were almost rolled back in your head, but you slowly looked around, trying to figure out where you were.

Matt took your body out of the water, holding your head incase you had a neck injury he wasn't aware of.

"Matt" you breathed out

"Babe, I'm so sorry. I had no idea the step was right there. I'll never forgive myself"

You wanted to interject, you wanted to kiss him and tell him to shut up and stop talking this way, it wasn't his fault. But you couldn't. All you could do was stare at him, as tears streamed down his face and a phone pressed to his ear.

He wouldn't have even listened if you could speak, but your lack of ability to speak was a sign you needed to go to the hospital.

An ambulance arrived and paramedics began attending to you, while asking Matt was happened. They put you into the ambulance, about to close the doors, but you felt like screaming. You tried sitting up, alarming the medical personnel, who gently pushed you back.

"Matt" you cried. "Matt"

The paramedic looked confused, looking up at the other one. "Is that the boyfriend?"

He nodded, looking out the back of the ambulance and Matt appeared by your side. He was now dressed and holding a small bag.

Little did you know, Matt went back inside to grab some clothes for you, put on a shirt and told the paramedics he would meet them at the hospital. He convinced himself you were mad for what happened, so he was shocked you were asking for him.

"I'm here, I'm right here" he took your hand and sat next to you.

They sped off to the hospital and quickly took you away to examine you while Matt paced in the waiting room. His phone buzzed a few times in his pocket but he ignored it.

Around the sixth time it rang, Matt cursed under his breath, taking his phone out. It was Laura.

"Hello?" He answered the phone

"Hey, Matt. I wanted to be the one to tell you some fans got pictures of you and Y/N, an ambulance outside your house today. I hope she's okay but I want to let you know it's all over TikTok with different theories"

Matt felt like screaming.

"They don't even know what happened. How can they have theories?"

"Well, your girlfriend brought into an ambulance in a stretcher wearing a bikini with blood dripping down her head is evident from the pictures" Laura told him. "They're short videos"

Matt sighed, slumping into a chair. "Fuck...Thanks for telling me, Laura. Sorry I'm snappy, I'm worried"

"Don't apologise, Matt. Listen, you don't need to tell me now, but call me soon. Let me know how she is"

"I'll call you soon"

They said their goodbyes and a doctor walked into the waiting room. Matt turned his phone off and stood up to greet the doctor.

"How is she?"

He smiled at Matt. "She's fine. She's stable, everything looks good. She has a severe concussion and she needed stitches on her forehead. We did a CT scan to be safe, but I don't suspect any damage and I'll have the results back in a few days. The nurse is finishing her discharge papers if you'd like to go in"

Matt shook his hand, thanking him and sprinting down to your room. He smiled at you from the doorway, watching as the nurse took your heart monitor pads off. You smiled back at him and he swore he could've died because his girl was back.

"Her prescription is ready, you can pick it up downstairs. She's okay to sleep as long as she's woken every two hours to make sure her symptoms aren't getting worse" The nurse told Matt. He nodded and thanked her.

She left the room, giving you some privacy. Matt walked over the bed and pulled you into his arms.

"Matt" you whispered. "What's wrong?"

"I hurt you" he choked out. "I'm so sorry"

"Stop" you scolded, running your hand through his hair. "It was an accident and I'm alive. Everything is okay"

"You have a concussion" he mumbled. "Because of me"

You laughed and looked him in the eyes. "Yeah, and who gets to take care of me for the next couple of weeks while I recover? You" you poked his chest.

He was still pouting.

"Matt, stop pouting, I'm serious. Accidents happen, I don't blame you at all. We were having fun, messing around"

Matt sighed and kissed you gently. "How are you feeling?"

You shrugged. "I'm not going to lie..they gave me strong painkillers so I feel great"

Matt laughed, which made you smile.

"Please tell me you brought some clothes" you sighed. "I came here in a bikini, I don't have the courage to leave in one"

Matt nodded with a smile, holding the bag up. He helped you to stand up and untied the gown.

"I wasn't expecting you to be..naked"

You laughed, covering your chest. "I wasn't going to keep a wet swimsuit on. I guess that was the nurses doing"

Matt laughed and shook his head, handing you cotton shorts and cotton underwear.

"I've never been more grateful to see the cotton ones" you sighed. "If you showed up with lace, I would've broken up with you"

Matt laughed. "Glad I passed the test"
