You and Matt hadn't been dating for long when he introduced you to his family.

He knew meeting them in person for the first time would be stressful for you because of your social anxiety and your obsession with making a good impression on every one in your life. So he eased you in by having you pop your head in to their usual FaceTime calls.

It worked because when he asked you to go home with him for Christmas, you didn't hesitate to say yes. This wasn't a surprise to him, but you were blown away by the love and warmth they showed you.

After an amazing holiday with his family, Matt imagined what meeting your family would be like. To him, that was the next step in the relationship and he was anticipating it. When you were together for a year and you still didn't introduce him or express any tendencies of doing so, he couldn't help but wonder what was holding you back.

You had the opportunity to do it when you visited your family a few days ago. You could've taken Matt with you, but you refused. You told him your Mom had gotten ill with a stomach bug, so it wasn't the best time.

Matt can't lie. That hurt. He tried not to make a big deal out of it, but it was eating him up. One day, he decided to bring it up.

For most people, it was a lazy Sunday, the perfect opportunity to sleep in and not get out of bed until noon. Not for you and Matt though. You both got up early to use the time to be productive. Matt sat on one couch, coming up with video ideas and you sat on the other couch, drawing.

Matt had been staring at you for some time but you were too focused on the drawing to sense his gaze.

"Babe?"

"Yeah?" You responded, not looking up.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah?"

He paused. "Why don't you want me to meet your family?"

The question pulled you away from your drawing. The hand holding the pencil froze on the page.

"I told you" you said softly. "It's not that I don't want you to meet them. I'm just..waiting for the right time"

Matt raised a brow. "The right time? Will there ever be a right time? We've been together for a year" Matt didn't want to seem pushy or demanding, but he wanted you to know how he felt. "You and my Mom always send each other puppy videos. You, Nick and Chris have inside jokes that I'm not apart of. Does your family even know who I am?"

You smirked at him. "They know who you are, Matt. Trust me"

"You know what I mean" he mumbled, looking down at his phone. Sure, they knew him from YouTube, but that didn't matter to him. He wanted them to know him as your boyfriend, that's all.

"They know we're in a relationship"

He waited for you to elaborate but you didn't. "Okay..and? How do they feel about me? Do they ask about me? Do they want to meet me?"

You looked down at your page again. "They ask about you every time I see them"

"Then what's holding you back?" He asked gently.

"I'll talk to them" you said. "We'll arrange a time for you and me to see them together"

Matt raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Really?"

You nodded. "Yeah. If you really want to see them, I'll try to make it happen"

Matt didn't know what to say at first. He didn't expect you to agree so easy. "Thanks, babe"
