"Is this necessary?" You asked, closing the car door as Matt does the same on the other side of the car. You crossed your arms and tilted your head in a curious manner. The clouds were getting darker by the minute, indicating the beginning of the storm that cancelled the flight.

Matt wasn't bothered by the incoming storm, and nodded as he pushed his sunglasses up on to his head before opening the backseat door and grabbing his jacket. "Of course it's necessary. I've never been here before. I want a souvenir"

"Okay, but-" You followed him as he walked towards the building in front of them. "Here? Really? Does this seem like the best place?"

Matt looked over his shoulder at you, walking slower to look at the building he parked at. The building was probably older than you and Matt combined. You were certain it was a building from a horror movie before someone got killed and while getting back into the car with Matt wasn't on your list of wants, it was preferable to get stabbed to death by a stranger.

"It's fine" He waved off your concern without a second thought. "Wait in the car if you're anxious"

You thought about it, but went against it. You needed to stretch your legs and Matt was too trusting. Matt wouldn't be able to tell if someone was sketchy until they stabbed him in the back. He was your getaway car so you needed him to be alive.

"Let's get this over with" You sighed, pulling your jacket around you tighter as you stepped to the door. "We're on a schedule"

When Matt opened the door, the smell hits you first. Despite the window being open and the fan on, it felt like nothing fresh had been in this store for a while. You glanced at Matt, worry all your over your face.

Matt saw your glance, he brushed it off, looking back at the shelves that were full of stuff. After a few minutes, he was looking at cards. You looked at him for a few minutes before wondering off to the candy. You grimaced as you kept walking, stopping in front of key chains. Most of them had bible verses.

"I think we should go, Matt" You called without turning around, putting the keychain back. "Just pick the card and- Matt?"

When you turned around, Matt was nowhere to be seen. You walked to the card section, confused as your stomach tightened. Where was he? You ran your hand along the shelf. It's not like he could've went anywhere, it was a small store and you would've heard him leaving or the car starting.

"Matt?" Your voice was full of worry. "Where the fuck did you-fuck!" You screamed as something grabbed you from behind, it's fingers digging into your sides. You whipped around to find Matt laughing out loud at the look on your face.

"You're such an ass" You grabbed his shoulders, shoving him away from you. "I swear you're like a little kid-"

"Did I worry you?" He laughed, a look of mischief in his blue eyes. "Were you afraid something happened to me?"

You cheeks burned with anger as you turned away, crossing your arms. "No. I wish something happened to you. Then I wouldn't have to deal with your immature self"

Matt smirked and fell into a sing song, "You were worried" He laughed. "I could tell"

"Fuck off" You snapped at him. "Just buy your postcard and let's go"

"I already did. The sign on the desk said the clerk was out for lunch so I left some money" He pointed at the small desk. "That should cover it, yeah?"

"Whatever" you shoved him once more before heading to the door. "Let's go, I want to get to the motel before it starts to rain"
