Arabel's POV
"Before you say anything, Steven is my mate." She blurted out. Now that's something interesting, and something Cyrus will not be happy about. I dropped my hands to my hips and tilted my head, not sure how to react. Did I just lead someone to her soulmate? Cool.
"Steven doesn't know why he's attracted to me. I'm probably the least of what he wants in a girl, the worse," she said sadly, "but I can't let him go. I want to work hard to win his heart and you might think my way is indecent but to our kind, it's completely normal. I just don't want to lose my mate," girl, humans are more sexual than you think. At least, you know you're doing it with your soulmate, they don't need to know if the person is their soulmate or married before they share a bed. Supernaturals are more decent than humans. "Can you please not tell my uncle about this? He'll blow a fuse and murder Steven before I get the chance to explain. Please, help me-"
"It's okay, I understand. I assure you that I'll make sure he doesn't kill your mate and you might need to tell him quickly because..." I trailed off, looking over my shoulder and listening to his footsteps. Even a blind person will be able to tell that the owner of the feet trampling the floor is furious. Cyrus walked through the door, blowing mistful air through his nostrils. His veins had popped and his body was tense. He looked past my shoulder and glared at Chloe.
"Why does that green-haired boy reek of your arousal?" He demanded. And I wondered how he knew what her arousal smelt like, but maybe that's a weird question for a werewolf. I bit down on my lower lip and quietly made way for him. He walked past me. If I didn't move, he would have pushed me out of the way. Chloe, being... Well, Chloe blurted the same thing she said to me, making him halt on his steps. Chloe looked away from him shyly, rolling the hem of her skirt around her pinky finger, or at least, trying to. Cyrus remained where he stood in shock for a few seconds before he turned around, giving me a quizzical look. "Did you know about this?"
"I just found out and I promised her I won't let you harm her boyfriend so..."
"I might hate this, but I will never harm her mate. Losing one's mate is losing their soul. Why would I do that to her?"
"So you're gonna let me date him?" She asked mirthfully and filled with hope.
Cyrus chuckled. "Absolutely not,"
"Cyrus," I sighed, "he's her mate,"
"And she's fifteen and naive,"
"My little sisters got their first boyfriends at thirteen,"
"And how does that concern me? She's too young to be having sex and dating boys," he barked. I stared at him with amusement. For a werewolf to say that was astonishing. He told me most of them don't date because they wish to be with their mates, but most of the male wolves sleep with random girls, mostly humans. He said something about them being very horny creatures. So I wasn't seeing anything wrong with her finding her mate and just having sex with him. Love will develop along the way, just like we are doing. Except if Chloe isn't a werewolf.
"Chloe, can you excuse us?" I asked politely. She nodded eagerly. She was more than happy to run along. I followed her and shut the door behind me. I turned around and pressed my back against the door, crossing my hands behind my back. "So, can you tell me why you're upset? Is this a 'she's like my little sister protective big brother' thing? Or is it something else?" He opened his mouth and shut it back as if he couldn't find his words. I chuckled and pushed myself away from the door. It was the former. I didn't know how it felt to have an overprotective father or older brother. I was the first child and my father was our personal cheerleader. He always urged us to get a boyfriend and mingle. He was that kind of father, not that he was bad at all, he just enjoyed gossiping with us about our love and sex life. Must be annoying and at the same time, nice.
