Krystal's POV
Zadd gave me the assignment to eliminate a set of rogues planning an ambush on a pack. It'll be fun he said, a great stretch he exaggerated. Yet, here I was. Seriously, am I overpowered or do I keep meeting the wrong opponents? If I don't fight someone soon, I'll lose my mind. I don't necessarily have to kill them, just spar with them. "That… was… AWESOME!" I flinched, my eyes flying open with shock. I turned around sharply, surprised that someone was able to sneak up on me. It was a guy with silver hair. His eyes were silver too but with a blue ring in the center, and his lips were fucking red. It was as if I was staring at an apple.
‘What an odd look for a werewolf… Why does he look so familiar?’ I thought.
"Frost!!!" A man shouted. I knew that voice somehow… wait! I need to get out of here! I turned and ran.
"Wait!" I ignored him but I underestimated him. He blocked my path in a flash. What the fuck! Wynter, did you see that?! "Hey, don't run. You haven't told me who you are." He asked curiously with excitement bobbling in his tone. I tried to run again but he blocked me. It was as if he wasn't even trying.
«Okay, this is getting interesting,» Wynter said happily.
"Get out of my way," I growled and tried to toss him aside, but to my greatest surprise, he flipped me over and pinned me on the ground, using his knee to stop me from moving by placing it on my back or to be precise, a fatal point of my spine that would cause instant paralysis if he presses his knees harder. His hand held down my shoulder and his fingers pressed gently on my neck, a point that would cause me to pass out. He knew what he was doing and he was good. I was startled. No surprise attack had ever worked on me before and it wasn't even a surprise, he was just too fast. Is he a werewolf? "You are asking for death!" I growled again, looking at him over my shoulder. He shrugged. I flipped us over and he flipped us again. The most amusing fight I'd ever had. The more he flipped me over, the more excited I got until I finally pinned him down, an unusual sound coming out of my mouth.
Wait, am I giggling?!
"Don't follow me," I warned. I would have killed him but I couldn't. For some reason, I couldn't bear to see him get hurt. An overwhelming warmth spread in my chest, one I don't remember ever feeling before. I stood up sharply but he cleared my feet. I backflipped away from him and threw a tranquilizer dart at him before I landed on a crouch. He caught the dart and crushed it with his hand as if he was expecting it.
Wow!
A smile spread on my lips as I stood up. I placed my hands on my hips and cocked them. "You're good," I complimented.
"And you're holding back," he stated as a matter of fact, and he was right. I wasn't using my full strength and neither was he, but we could both tell we were a good match for each other. Though I had a feeling that if I had a murderous intent, he'd be dead. Still, the thought of that was displeasing. "You look like you're having fun, though. Am I right?"
"Well," I stretched my hands high above my head, "it's not every day I find someone with your skills. Trust me when I say I've fought a lot of people and they never seem to get me this excited," I confessed, watching him curiously as he pulled out a candy bar from his pocket. He broke the strong chocolate bar into two and threw me one. You'll think it's foolish to eat something from a stranger, and it was, but I didn't think otherwise. It was strange. It took me five years to eat anything that didn't come from Merlin and Aunt Raquel, and even until now, I couldn't eat what the other elders gave me. Yet there I was, gladly biting into the bar of chocolate.
"Wow," I moaned, brushing the cream off my bottom lip. The chocolate was hard but once bitten into, delicious cream spurt into my mouth. "This is tasty. Chocolate taste this good?"
"You've never had chocolate before?"
I shrugged. "Attachment gets in my way, so I avoid things that'll cause me trouble. I've taken it twice though, my Aunt insisted…" I paused my lips when I saw the baffled expression on his face. "What?"
"You don't eat sweets? No sugar? What the fuck have you been doing with your life?! Well, I know you have this going on," he said, inclining to the corpses, "but still! A life without sugar?! Honey, you must have been miserable!"
I chuckled, I actually did. "I think I'm good without this," I finished the last bit and sucked my fingers. He kept staring at me like he was seeing a cow with nine heads. "I'm fine," I said with a small laugh. His eyebrow twitched before a grin spread on his face. I stepped away from him cautiously, but he was in my face again, grabbing and squishing my cheeks together.
"Don't worry, brethren, I'll save you!!!" Oh no. "I'll introduce you to the world of sugary goodness and I'll never stop un—"
"Frost!!!" My heart skipped. It wasn't just about the fact that someone else was going to see me, but it was the voice. I'd heard it somewhere before. I looked over my shoulder and with my foresight, I could see a man rushing towards us, warriors behind him. I turned and looked at the guy who was looking in the direction I was looking at. Astonishment washed over me as I saw his eyes. The blue ring had expanded and a tiny glint was in the pupil of his eyes. It gave me the expression of cold. It was the first time I realized his aura. It matched the man running towards us. The boy was an alpha and the man rushing towards us was his father.
He returned his gaze to me with a grave expression on his face. "Do you want them to know you did this?" He asked, playfulness gone in his voice. He was in serious alpha mode. I shook my head negatively, in a daze. "Then go. You obviously saved my pack so I'll take care of this."
"Um… okay?"
«Is it me, Wynter, but is this guy gorgeous?»
«He kind of looks like you,»
«Nay.»
"Go," he repeated with a warm smile, one I've seen before, one I once loved… but where? I found myself smiling back at him. For the first time since I woke up in the temple, I gave someone other than my aunts and Merlin a genuine smile. I shook it off and dashed away.
_____
I flung my mask on the bed and paced around. Who the hell is that guy? Why do I feel like I know him? I feel so connected to him. He can't be my mate, I'm a hundred percent sure. Normally I don't smell like any pack wolf or rogue, only me but he smells so familiar. Maybe I came across him in the past?
«Wait! Maybe he's from the pack mother got married into?!» Wynter shouted. Yes, that must be it. Whatever I need to prepare for school tomorrow and maybe my stay there will find me some answers.
