The Christmas were flickering on and off frantically now as a loud growl filled the three friend's ears, the monster had practically knocked Jonathan to the floor. Nancy gasped and started shooting at the monster. ''Go to hell you son of a bitch,'' she screamed, missing every shot due to how unaffected the monster was. Jess took a deep breath and swung her bat at the creature, whacking at it with all her strength and willpower until it suddenly knocked her to the ground, shoved the bat out of her hands as it opened its mouth like a giant flower spurting it's petals. Jess screamed, at a moment like this she would have normally fought back but this time she couldn't, she felt helpless as the wide opened mouthed creature pressed it's face closer to hers about to eat her. Jess closed her eyes ready to face death which to her amazement never came since the monster had been whacked away from her, she looked up to see Steve clutching Jonathan's bat. A small smile crept up onto her lips as she reached down for her own, helping Steve hit the monster, it winced and grunted in pain.

''Steve,'' Nancy exclaimed, watching as Steve hit the monster one last time before doing a fancy bat spin and hitting it again.

''It's in the trap,'' Jonathan shouted.

Jess pulled the small lighter out of her pocket and threw it at the monster in the trap, it lit up in flames, wailing and failing at the heat. The four teens shielded their eyes from the bright orange flames, Jonathan grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire, not wanting his house to burn on fire.

Jess took a deep breath in through her nose and out through her mouth as she and Steve approached the bathroom, he was sat on the counter beside the sink and Jess flicked up the tap, placed a cotton ball under it and dabbed it against Steve's split lip from Jonathan's punches. ''It was pretty risky what you did Steve,'' Jess exclaimed.

''Oh so you would rather be mauled by that demo...thingy?'' Steve asked, eyeing the girl in front of him with the emerald green eyes and brown hair.

''Demogorgon and no I wouldn't rather be mauled by it I just think it was pretty risky what you did,'' Jess admitted.

Steve pushed her hand away from his lip, he gently leapt off the counter and he just glared into the girl's beautiful green eyes, Jess bit her lip restraining herself from letting a small blush creep up onto her cheeks. Just something about Steve made her rethink things, sure he might be an asshole a lot of the time but she could see in his eyes now that something had changed inside of him. Steve's chocolate brown eyes flickered down to her lips, he remembered the last time he allowed himself to look at his best friend's lips like this. 1982, he wondered if he leaned in again to kiss she would kiss back and so he did but as soon as Jess noticed what he was doing she pushed him back slightly, putting her hands on his chest. Steve grabbed her hands and just held them.

''Steve, you have a girlfriend,'' Jess sighed.

''Well yeah but I...'' just as Steve was about to continue the door bust open. The two teens jumped apart, Steve took his hands away from Jess's hands before anyone could think something suspicious was going on. It was Nancy.

''The kids Jess, we forgot about the kids,'' Nancy said.

''Oh, fuck, Dustin,'' she yelled, now running out of the bathroom.

AN:  very short ik but Jess and Steve's chemistry damn. Why is he still with Nancy?
