The next morning, Steve had already awoken but Jess was still fast asleep, not even realising that her boyfriend wasn't comforting her.
''Code red, I repeat, code red. Does anyone copy? This is a code red, I repeat, a code red. This is a code red, I repeat, a code red. Does anyone copy? We are innocent children and we are trapped under Starcourt Mall. The Red Army has infiltrated Hawkins and if we are found they will torture and kill us,'' Dustin started yelling through his walkie talkie.
''Hey, Jess is still asleep keep it down and you gotta take it easy on that thing, you're gonna drain the battery,'' Steve exclaimed, pulling himself up.
''The mall just opened,'' Dustin told his friend.
''So?'' Steve shrugged.
''So, someone could be in range.''
''What do you think, Petey the Mall Cop is gonna rappel down here and save the day?'' Steve asked.
''All right, why are you such a cranky pants after getting to spend the night with my sister?'' Dustin asked.
''Shh! Jesus Christ! Jess is still sleeping,'' Steve reminded his curly haired friend.
''I heard you two talking all night,'' Dustin shrugged.
''We were trying to figure out a way to open up the door while you children were sleeping. After eight hours, we're still exactly nowhere, which is, you know, probably just a little bit of the reason why I'm feeling just...a tad cranky,'' Steve now shouted waking Jess up.
Jess's eyes slowly started to flutter open, she rubbed the sleep away from the corners of her eyes; she was awoken to see Steve undoing his shorts and Dustin asking ''what are you doing?''
''What does it look like I'm doing? I'm taking a leak, look away! Look away!'' Steve shouted.
''Steve, seriously?'' Jess rolled her eyes.
''Oh, good morning Jessie bear,'' Steve exclaimed.
''Is that really necessary for us to all see?'' Dustin asked.
''Yes it is...what it's not like Jess hasn't seen my....'' Steve started to say before he was suddenly interrupted.
''Whoa Steve, I think that's enough, my brother is only 14,'' Jess rolled her eyes.
''Can you redirect your stream please?'' Robin asked.
Erica seemed to be hitting the glass of green goo against the box, trying to get it open.
''Hey, hey! Be careful, careful, careful! We don't even know what that is,'' Robin exclaimed, pulling the liquid away from her.
''Exactly, it could be useful,'' Erica pointed out.
''Useful how?'' Robin shrugged.
''We can survive down here a long time without food, but if the human body doesn't get water it will die,'' Erica replied.
''I hate to break it to you but this is not water.''
''No, but it's a liquid and if it comes down to me drinking that shit or dying of thirst. I drink,'' Erica implied, snatching back the liquid.
Suddenly there was loud voices from outside of the elevator as Robin pressed her ear to the side of the door, she then looked up to Jess, Steve and Dustin. ''We've got company,'' she exclaimed.
The quintet gathered up on the elevator roof as they looked down at two men unloading the boxes, Steve pressed a finger to his lips watching as the two men disappeared out the door and that's when he jumped down and had just about stopped the door with the glass cylinder of green goo. Steve let everyone else go before him, Jess first, then Robin, then Dustin and lastly Erica. Just as the goo was about to crack, Steve pushed himself under the door and it just about nearly crushed him as Jess grabbed his hand and pulled him under and the quintet watched as the goo had shattered completely sinking into the floor like an acid. Jess cringed at the sight, thinking of again a worst case scenario of what would happen if she got that stuff on her skin.
