Suddenly Robin had come back, Jess and Steve joined her in the back as they both sat down with her and Dustin. ''It is fascinating what 20 bucks will get you at the County Recorder's Office. Starcourt Mall. The complete blueprints,'' Robin exclaimed.
''Not bad,'' Jess nodded, amazed at her friend.
''So, this is us, 'Scoops,' ''Robin exclaimed as she grabbed her whiteboard marker as she marked down on the paper. ''And this is where we want to get to.'' She marked down on the paper again.
''I mean I don't really see a way in,'' Steve shrugged.
''There's not if you're talking exclusively about doors,'' Robin exclaimed.
''Air ducts,'' Jess realised.
''Exactly,'' Robin smiled, pointing her marker at her friend. ''Turns out this secret room needs air just like any old room and these air ducts lead all the way...'' she marked down the coordinates creating a path on the paper and then circling the destination. ''Here.''
Jess started trying to pick at the air vent with one of her bobby pins from her hair but it wasn't working. ''Steve, get me a screwdriver,'' Jess said.
''I'm not a repairman,'' Steve shrugged.
''Get me a bloody screwdriver, will you?'' Jess now yelled, not realising how loud her voice had come out.
Steve rolled his eyes at his girlfriend and found a screwdriver, he handed it to Jess. ''Here you go Miss cranky pants,'' he exclaimed. Jess rolled her eyes now and grabbed it from him.
''Thanks,'' she said as she unscrewed the air vent.
Steve now shined a torch through it that Jess had passed to him. ''Thank you,'' Steve exclaimed. ''Yeah I don't know, man, I don't if you can fit in here. It's like...super tight.''
''I'll fit, trust me, no collarbones remember?'' Dustin reminded him.
''Uh excuse me?'' Robin asked, confused as well.
''Oh, he's...uh...yeah he's got some disease. Chry...uh...it's chyrdo...umm,'' Steve tried his best to explain.
Jess just put her head into her hands. ''I've told you a million times that it's Cleidocranial dysplasia and if you can't pronounce it so call it CCD,'' Jess told her boyfriend.
''Yeah what Jess said, he's missing bones and stuff...he can bend like Gumbo,'' Steve exclaimed.
''You mean Gumby,'' Robin corrected him.
''I'm pretty sure it's Gumbo,'' Steve said.
''No, it's definitely Gumby,'' Jess corrected him as well.
''Come on Jess just let me have this one, okay?''
Jess just sighed and patted Steve's shoulder. ''Steve, just shut up and push me,'' came Dustin's voice from the vents.
''Okay, I'll push ya,'' Steve said, walking over to push Dustin as Jess stood watching with Robin.
''Not my feet dumbass, push my ass,'' Dustin said.
''What?'' Steve asked, now confused.
''Touch my butt, I don't care,'' Dustin shouted.
''How much you wanna bet that he isn't gonna be able to fit?'' Jess whispered to her friend.
''Five bucks?'' Robin whispered back.
''Got ya!''
After a few more tries of trying to shove Dustin through the vents they realised it wasn't going to work and Jess was right. ''All right, Buckley I'll take that five bucks now,'' Jess said but Robin wasn't paying attention she seemed to have her eyes fixated on Lucas' younger sister Erica. Jess rolled her eyes, she didn't like how sassy and rude this girl could be, she felt sorry for Lucas at times.
