Jess and Steve climbed down the ladder and let Lucas replace them on the top of the bus, Jess wanted to just process everything for a minute. Did this mean that she and Steve were dating now? Had he actually broken up with Nancy? She decided to not pry so she stayed silent and then she felt a hand wrap around her waist, she smiled and manoeuvred so she was pressed up against Steve's side and her head was in his chest. Dustin cocked an eyebrow at this, looking at his sister and Steve being so close, were they a couple now? He thought, just like his sister he didn't want to pry so he stayed silent. Steve played with his lighter, flicking the cap up in his fingers.

''So you two really fought one of these things before?'' Max asked, her arms folded as she stared at the oldest people of the group.

Steve and Jess didn't say anything, they just nodded in agreement. ''And you're like totally one hundred percent sure it wasn't a bear?'' Max then asked, not really believing this whole thing.

''Shit, don't be idiot, okay? It wasn't a bear,'' Dustin snapped at the young red head.

''Dustin,'' Jess's eyes widened at the sudden anger at the young red head, she thought he liked this girl.

''Why are you even here if you don't believe us? Just go home,'' Dustin continued.

''Geez someone's cranky, past your bedtime?'' Max teased angrily, getting up and climbing up the ladder to join Lucas.

Steve looked at Dustin. ''That's good, just show her you don't care,'' he said, still playing with his lighter in one hand and Jess's hair in the other. Jess just shook her head at this.

''I don't,'' Dustin shrugged, pacing the bus.

Steve just winked at him. ''Why you winking, Steve? Stop,'' Dustin told him.

Suddenly they heard loud growling outside of the bus. ''I've got eyes. Ten o'clock! Ten o'clock!'' Lucas shouted from the top of the bus.

Jess and Steve shot up from their seat together and joined Dustin at the window, their fingers intertwined. ''There,'' Jess pointed out when she saw the young Demogorgon.

''He's not taking the bait, why isn't he taking the bait?'' Dustin asked.

''Maybe he's not hungry?'' Jess shrugged.

''Maybe's sick of cow?'' Steve suggested, taking his hand away from Jess's grip and grabbing his bat about to head out the bus.

''Whoa, whoa, whoa Steve what are you doing?'' Jess asked.

''Jessie bear, just stay here I don't want you getting hurt,'' Steve replied, cupping her cheek in his hand before planting a small kiss to her forehead.

''Are you shitting me? I'm not staying here, you could get hurt,'' Jess snapped back at Steve. Steve sighed, knowing his best friend now girlfriend all too well that he would never be able to convince her. Jess picked up her bat and walked out.

''Jess? Steve? What the hell?'' Dustin questioned, the questions and thoughts running through his brain.

''Just get ready,'' was all Steve said as he tossed Dustin his lighter.

Jess and Steve headed out the bus as they stood back to back, Steve positioned his foot as he swayed his bat from side to side whistling trying to get the Demogorgon's attention.

''Whistling, really?'' Jess asked, laughing.

''What else am I going to do, Jessie bear?'' Steve asked.

''I don't know call out to it or something.''

Steve took Jess's advice. ''Come on, buddy,'' he exclaimed and then continued whistling.
