Jess stood outside of the looming radio tower, the last thing she wanted was for herself or one of her friends to fall off and break their necks. Beside her stood Nancy, Robin, Steve, and Jonathan; Nancy on her right, Robin on her left.

The brisk November air blew Jess's thick streaks of hair out behind her in waves as she glanced up at the radio tower in a flurry of tight emotions that coursed through her veins at a lightning speed. She knew climbing a huge looming tower was the least of her worries and her friends' worries but Jess had always been a negative Nelly when it came to anything but she kept a bright smile on her face so others didn't see she was suffering. Steve was the only one who knew everything about her, other than her mum and Nancy(though Nancy didn't know everything about her dad). Life had never been kind to Jess, only when did Steve, Nancy, Dustin, and all of her friends come into her life did she feel a purpose. Ever since Will Byers went missing in 1983, very close to November 3rd, Jess's life had drastically changed and fighting demogorgons, demo-dogs, the mind flayer, and Vecna himself became the norm and it wasn't Jess's idea of fun but she had survived this long. She could survive again.

"There it is, yeah. Remote radio head, yeah," Steve justified for everyone as if it wasn't plainly obvious.

"We're not blind, Steven," Jess grumbled, rolling her eyes thickly into the back of her skull.

Steve just hopelessly looked at her, wondering and pondering on exactly when it was Jess started distancing herself from him. Jess knew Steve's chocolate brown eyes were dawning on her but she didn't bother to look, she was too preoccupied on the task at hand.

"And, uh, where exactly are we gonna find this remote thingamajig? I don't see it," Robin questioned, confused, shooting her head up.

"It's up there somewhere," Nancy replied, sighing.

"It's gotta be. So, I guess somebody's gotta climb to the tippy top of this bad boy and..." Robin explained, cutting herself off to imitate a squeaking noise to create the sound the tower made when and if it tips and falls.

Jess playfully rolled her eyes at her best friend. "Do you always have to make everything sound scarier than it already is? A creaking and squeaking tower that's about to fall is scarier than a leaning tower," she smiled, earning a laugh from Robin.

"Reeeeeee," Robin imitated her squeaking sound again, scaring her best friend.

"You're such a dork," Jess shook her head, shoving the blonde playfully in the shoulder.

Nancy broke the dramatic playful moment between her best friend and Robin. "Without a harness or anything, it seems kind of dangerous," she said exasperatedly.

Steve impended further, sliding his jacket off his shoulders and dropping onto the floor. "AKA job for good old Steve Harrington," he assured everyone, looking at Jess, who only rolled her eyes. She didn't need Steve competing for her love and Nancy's love, it was tedious and exhausting.
