The first thing Jess saw when she swam through the gate was her boyfriend getting attacked by Demo-bats, one of them had attached itself around his neck as it choked him and Jess's instincts were quick, she found the oar laying on the ground and whacked at the bats. ''Hey there,'' she shouted. ''Quick! Hold it, Robin!''
Robin placed her foot onto one of the bats that had itself tangled around Steve's neck while Jess aimed at it and hit it.
''Jess, look out,'' Eddie's voice shouted and a bat landed on Jess's back.
''Get it off of me! Get it off, Robin, Nance,'' Jess shouted as her friends started whacking the bat that was on Jess's back.
When it was off Robin slammed it into the ground and stabbed it with her oar. Steve had managed to rip the bat off of his neck, he slammed it into the ground and teared it apart with his feet. ''Steve, sweetie, are you okay?'' Jess asked, running over to her boyfriend and examining his bite wounds on his sides.
''Well, they only took about a pound of flesh but other than, yeah never better,'' Steve implied.
''Never do that again, okay?'' Jess exclaimed, wrapping her arms around her boyfriend tightly but not too tightly so she wouldn't hurt him.
''It wasn't by choice, Jessie bear,'' Steve replied.
''Promise me?''
''Okay, I promise not to dive underwater and get bitten by evil bat things,'' Steve said.
''Thank you,'' Jess said, giving Steve a light kiss on the lips.
''Uh, do you guys think these bats have like rabies?'' Robin asked.
''What?'' Steve questioned.
''It's just that rabies are like my number one greatest fear and I think we should really get you to a hospital because when the symptoms set in, it's too late, you're already, like dead,'' Robin rambled.
''Geez, not helping Robin,'' Jess sighed.
''I'm sorry,'' Robin said softly.
The bats seemed to be flying over to swarm around the gate, like they were guarding it. ''All right. There's not that many, we can take 'em. Right?'' Steve said. However, his train of thought was cut short when more Demo-bats could be heard in the distance and surrounded the place.
''You were saying?'' Jess questioned.
''The woods, come on,'' Nancy ordered and everyone started following her.
''Great, more running,'' Robin implied, grabbing her torch off of the ground and running off after her friends.
As they started walking around looking for somewhere safe to hide, the ground started shaking and Steve doubled over, he clutched his stomach, groaning in pain.
''Steve?'' Jess asked.
''I'm fine, I'm fine,'' Steve replied.
''No, no you're losing blood, come on sit down, okay?''
Jess helped Steve sit down on the ground while she knelt down. ''Does anyone have like anything I can wrap with?'' she asked. Jess then noticed Robin's Hawaiian shirt that she had on over another shirt. ''Robin, give me your shirt.''
''What? No, it's cold,'' Robin whined.
''Please, I'll get you another I promise,'' Jess exclaimed. Robin rolled her eyes and handed her friend the shirt, Jess thanked her friend and teared it in half before wrapping it around Steve's waist.
''So the good news is I'm pretty sure wooziness is not a symptom of rabies but if you start having hallucinations or muscle spasms or you start feeling aggressive, like you wanna punch me, let me know,'' Robin rambled.
