Nancy rummaged through her closet, she reached up to the top and pulled out a box that she knew she had her guns in.
''Those aren't guns,'' Jess exclaimed, pointing to the box.
''These heels are pointy but I was hoping for a deadly projectile,'' Robin exclaimed.
''I don't understand,'' Nancy closed up the box and placed it down.
''Maybe you left them somewhere else?'' Eddie suggested.
''I have a three year old in the house, I know where I keep my guns,'' Nancy replied. ''And also I threw these away years ago.''
That's when Nancy noticed something on her bedside table, the sophomore chemistry flashcards that she studied for with Steve, she flashbacked to that time, she flicked through them confused as to how they would still be here.
''I know grades are important to you but perhaps studying can wait till we get out?'' Robin suggested.
''These are from sophomore chemistry,'' Nancy exclaimed, she started to rush around her room. ''And this...this wallpaper...is old wallpaper and this mirror, this went to a yard sale.'' She picked up a little teddy bear off of her bed. ''And you...you're not supposed to be here, no I gave you to Cousin Joanna two years ago.'' She grabbed her diary and flicked through the dates, the only dates in it were November 6th 1983
''What is it? What's wrong, Nance?'' Jess questioned.
''Yeah, Nancy you're freaking me out,'' Robin said.
''I think the reason that my guns aren't here is because they don't exist yet,'' Nancy exclaimed.
''They don't...exist?'' Eddie questioned.
''This diary should be full of entries, it's not. The last entry is November 6, 1983. The day Will, went missing. The day the gate opened. We're in the past,'' Nancy said, holding her diary.
Jess, Robin and Eddie all exchanged looks at each other confused, suddenly they heard the sound of Steve from downstairs and the four teens rushed down to see him screaming out for Dustin's name.
''Maybe he really does have rabies,'' Robin whispered to Jess.
''Steve, what are you doing?'' Jess asked her boyfriend.
''He's here. Henderson, that little shit, he's here. He's like...he's in the walls or something, just listen,'' Steve replied.
Jess listened very carefully and she could faintly hear the voice of her brother in the walls...or somewhere? Where was he? Then it clicked in her brain. ''What if he...he's like in the right side up? He's in the right side up, we need to find a way to contact him.'' Jess flicked on one of the lights but it wouldn't budge. Steve had his torch shining on a brightened chandelier, it sparkled from the torch.
''Guys, you seeing this?'' he questioned and everyone rushed over to the sparkled chandelier.
Jess placed her hand to the light, it tickled her hand. ''Whoa, it tickles,'' she laughed as Steve laughed with her.
''It kinda feels good,'' Robin smiled, laughing too.
''Does anyone know Morse code?'' Nancy asked.
''No,'' everyone except Eddie replied.
''Wait, does SOS count? Is that...is that good?'' Eddie asked, not thinking it was a good idea.
''Yeah of course, if you know that, do it,'' Jess exclaimed.
Eddie started tapping at the light, signalling the words S, O and S. The group waited for a little bit, while the younger kids in the right side up did their thing, they placed Holly's lite-brite down. ''All right...you guys seeing this?'' Dustin asked, his voice echoing through the upside down.
Jess placed her hand to it, making it light up and sparkly. ''Holy shit!'' she heard Dustin laugh and scream. She smiled. ''We're not moving it, we're just unplugging it. Stand by!'' Lucas yanked the plug out of the socket. ''Okay, try it now.''
''Okay...umm...umm,'' Jess said, she wrote the letters H and I in the light.
''Hi!'' Dustin laughed. ''Hey, hi, that worked.''
''Yes,'' Jess said pumping the air with her fist.
''Hi!'' Eddie said, rather aggressively.
Jess started writing on the light again S, T and U...she giggled when she laughed at Dustin trying to pronounce the word and variations of what it could be. C and K. Jess finished.
''Stuck,'' Dustin said.
''Yes, we are,'' Jess exclaimed.
''Uh, you can't get back through Watergate?''
''What the hell's Watergate?'' Steve questioned.
''Are you really this dense?'' Jess rolled her eyes, looking at her boyfriend as he just shrugged.
''Because it's in water and it's a gate,'' Robin answered Steve's question.
''Oh...that's cute,'' Eddie smiled, tilting his head to the side.
''Um no, it's...'' Jess started writing out the letter G, U, A and R. she laughed again when her brother and his friends started trying to pronounce different variations of Guar. She finished writing D, E and D to finish the word as guarded.
''Okay, uh Watergate's guarded,'' Dustin exclaimed. ''I think we have a theory that might help with that.''
''Genius child,'' Robin exclaimed.
''We think Watergate isn't the only gate, that there's a gate at every murder site,'' Dustin's voice echoed.
''Does anybody know what he's talking about?'' Steve asked.
Jess face palmed her forehead. ''He's obviously saying that there's a gate at every murder site where Vecna has killed,'' she said.
''Okay. Seriously? How many times do I have to be right on the money before you trust me?'' Dustin shouted, his voice cracking as he spoke.
''Jesus Christ! This kid's gotta get his ego on check,'' Steve said.
''It's his tone right?'' Eddie agreed.
''I know.''
''I'm blaming you two for that...it's your fault,'' Jess laughed.
''Okay, so Eddie how far is your trailer?'' Jess asked, pointing at Eddie.
''Seven miles,'' Eddie replied.
''Whose up for some more walking?'' Jess joked.
