The following day, the quintet were able to get some food for Eddie so he wouldn't have to leave his little hideout. The young teen was still very much on edge though and he nearly jumped forward when the door swung open. ''Jesus,'' he exclaimed.
''It's just us, delivery service,'' Dustin smiled, holding up a bunch of bags.
Steve gave Eddie a cute little wave and Jess waved to, holding up a couple bags. They passed Eddie his food and he aggressively ate it. ''So we got, uh, some good news and some bad news. How do you prefer it?'' Jess asked.
''Bad news first, always,'' Eddie replied, taking a sip of his beer.
''All right. Bad news, we tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro and they're definitely looking for you,'' Dustin explained. ''Also, they're, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy. Like, 100% kind of convinced.''
''And the good news?''
''Your name hasn't gone public yet but if we found out about you, it's a matter of time before others do. And once that gets out everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you,'' Robin rambled.
''Hunt the freak, right?'' Eddie questioned, his voice coming off rather soft and hurt.
''Exactly,'' Dustin said.
''Shit,'' Eddie muttered.
''So, before that happens we find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence,'' Dustin said as if it was the easiest thing on the planet.
''That's all, Dustin? That's all?'' Eddie questioned, not convinced in the slightest.
''Yeah...no that's pretty much it,'' Dustin shrugged.
''Listen, Eddie I know everything Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional, but we've actually been through this before. I mean, they have a... a few times and... and I have once. Mine was more human-flesh-based, theirs was more smoke-related but bottom line is collectively, I really feel we got this,'' Robin told the shaken teen.
''We usually rely on this girl who has superpowers,'' Steve exclaimed.
''But those went...poof out the roof, bye, bye,'' Jess said.
''So, we're technically in more of the...'' Steve couldn't think of the word.
''Brainstorming phase,'' Max finished for him.
''Brainstorming,'' Steve clicked his fingers.
''There...there's nothing to worry about,'' Dustin tried reassure his friend.
Suddenly there was the loud sound of sirens blaring in the distance. ''Shit, tarp, tarp, tarp,'' Jess exclaimed and Eddie knew exactly what she was talking about and hid underneath it.
The quintet made the way down to Steve's car to go and follow the police cars, when they arrived at the scene however they saw Nancy talking to a couple of officers. Jess and Steve were the first to step out, Jess's brown hair whipped out behind her due to the wind, she waved at Nancy and Nancy smiled, waving back. God, was she relieved to see her best friend. They were both relieved to see each other.
The quintet joined Nancy at one of the picnic tables, they filled her in on everything and Nancy somewhat believed it but she thought the upside down would have gone by now. ''You're saying that this thing that killed Fred and Chrissy, it's from the Upside Down?'' she questioned.
''If the shoe fits,'' Steve replied.
''Our working theory is that he attacks with a spell or a curse. Now, whether or not he's doing the bidding of the Mind Flayer or just loves killing teens, we don't know,'' Dustin shrugged.
