The sun brushing through the living room's curtains hit Len in the face without waking her up. The night before she celebrated her Festival ranking and Tadashi's discharge from the hospital, Mariko cooked both their favorite dishes and after dinner and a hot warm shower, all three danced to some old songs until Lenora fell asleep on the couch. Neither Mariko nor Tadashi were strong enough to bring the kid into her bedroom, so they settled her there, placing pillows behind her head and a blanket on her tired body; she was so exhausted that they suspected she didn't even notice all their fuss.
"Do you think we should wake her up? It's almost three", Mariko brushed her hands together, watching the girl from the kitchen.
"Let her sleep, honey. She's tired. She fought all yesterday", Tadashi used his cane to pat his wife's leg, trying to calm her down.
"Yeah, but what about breakfast and lunch, she needs to eat!"
Their little discussion was interrupted by the doorbell ringing, surprising the couple.
"I got it, don't move, you still need to recover", Mariko lowered his cane, implying he had to stay sit at the table and relax.
The person on the other side was incredibly patient, waiting without ringing further.
"Oh my! Izuku, dear! Look at you! Come on, come on!", she invited him in, moving from the entrance to give the boy space.
"Hello, Mariko. How are you and Tadashi doing?", he politely asked the woman, taking off his shoes and leaving them near Len's ones.
"Well, a single glance it's all it takes for me to say I'm doing far better than you, my boy", Tadashi joked, waving from his spot on the table. The home was an open space, so it was difficult to hide once someone was at the front door.
Izuku sighed, aware of how almost all his upper body was covered in bandages, his forehead too, "Looks bad, right?"
Mariko closed the door behind the boy, pushing him deep inside, "Izuku, this looks fine if we compared it to the Sports Festival."
The woman wasn't wrong, "Hope I didn't disturb you, I just wanted to see Len."
Tadashi pointed at the couch with his cane, smiling, "Right there."
Lenora was still lightly snoring when Izuku tiptoed near her, bending down to her height. Smiling softly, he brushed some strands of hair out of her face, taking note of the big patch on her left cheek and the bandage wrapped around her neck and chin where Kacchan's explosion hit her.
Len shifted in her sleep, her hand reaching forward and ending up on something soft.
"Len, that's my face", Izuku's voice was muffled against Len's hand.
"Izuku?", her morning voice was groggy and she squinted her eyes one more time before finally opening them, "It's really you."
Before Izuku could speak, Lenora's stomach did, growling like an animal. They shared a look and started laughing like children, Izuku almost knocking off the coffee table while Len was kicking the air.
