Lenora never met her real parents and the family that adopted her died in a terrible accident, leaving her to grow up with the sweet old couple who lived next door, who were more than happy to have the little 6 years girl to raise.

Tokoyami was surprised when three loud knocks bang from his room's door. It was a bit after dinner and he left the common room to rest after those weeks of hard work between the Festival and classes: he felt the urge to sleep for a whole month. That's why he stayed quiet, pretending to be asleep, the person outside could wait until the next day. He heard some shifting and scrabbling before light steps made their way deeper into the hallway. He waited a little longer and then jumped up from his bed, gingerly opening the door.
No one was in sight but on the pavement the were two boxes, one bigger than the other. Picking them up and taking everything inside, her closed the door behind his back, and sitting on the bed. The big pink box was the first he unwrapped and found a good-looking, nice-smelling lemon cake with a candle on it. Also, a black card fell from the container, and he caught it before it could hit the floor.
'A little bird (that wasn't you!) told us we missed your birthday!
How dare you not reminded us?!
Anyway, that's a little present from everyone.
We are sorry.
Happy late birthday from the worst friends ever!
P.S. if you don't like the gift it's Len's fault.
P.P.S. Sato baked the cake, we know it's your favorite!'
Smiling, Tokoyami placed down the note carefully, putting the cake right beside it. Curious about the next box, he lifted the cover, chuckling to himself.
He remembered talking with Lenora about anime and how it slipped his undying passion for Berserk, so he wasn't surprised finding a shiny keychain with the long protagonist's sword.
Feeling guilty about ignoring them after all they did, he took the cake and headed downstairs, hoping everyone would be still up.
"Oi! Tokoyami! You're up!", Mina cheerfully greeted him, waving her hand. The other girls were sprawled between the couch and the floor around the pink girl, smiling at him, while the boys were having a little arm wrestle a match on the kitchen counter.
Tokoyami showed them the cake, smiling, "Yeah, I figured out it would taste better if I eat it with the people I love and admire."
Lenora, Mina, Ochaco, Denki, and Eijiro broke down, crying. They hurried to the bird boy, engulfing him in a tight hug, being careful not to smush the cake.
"I'll bring a knife!", Sato stood up, Momo right beside him telling everyone she would give plates and forks.
"Ponytail, bring tissues, your damn friend can't eat without messing up her stupid face", Katsuki yelled, his hand still closed around Sero's, his muscles flexing under the long sleeves shirt. With one swift move, he slammed his friend's hand on the table, mocking him for being 'weak'.
