Esme had finally worn Juliette down on the front of watching Men in Black, which was something she'd managed to avoid for years with Micheal and Shelby because the whole idea of aliens being around all the time had freaked her out... but she decided it was only fair since Esme came to the football games to watch her cheer even though she hated it... It was like a sort of payment for Esme going to the one the next night to cheer her on... She liked knowing that Esme was in the crowd, it made cheering suck a little less because she imagined that she was doing it for just her.
They were sitting on her bed as Esme got everything set up. She got up to shut off the lights and looked over at Juliette with some concern in her eyes... What was she worried about? There was nothing to be worried about, dates were supposed to be fun and relaxing, not concerning... Had she done something wrong?
"Are you sure that Micheal's not gonna be mad that you're watching this with me and not with him? From what he's told me he's been heartbroken for years that you've never seen it..." Esme said, crawling back into the bed beside her and Juliette shook her head. She'd covered her bases with that, and Micheal wasn't mad that she was watching a piece of media that he enjoyed. He'd just made her promise to tell him how he felt about it and that she'd watch it again with him sometime so he could give her his commentary on it... Which sounded amazing, she loved hearing Micheal's thoughts on cinematography.
"No, we talked about it, he said it was cool so long as I tell him all about how I feel about it. He wants to get coffee after practice tomorrow so we can talk about it." She said, and this made Esme smile as she nodded, pulling the blanket over both of them as she booted up her laptop.
"That's sweet." Of course it was, pretty much everything that Micheal did was sweet, it was one of the best things about him.
"He's a good guy, very sweet all the time so it's not really that surprising, you know?" She asked, and Esme chuckled and nodded, pulling Juliette to her side as she clicked on the movie again, taking a deep breath.
"Mhm." Juliette pressed a kiss to the nape of her neck and Esme's breath seemed to catch before she cleared her throat, pressing the spacebar. "Okay, let's start." Juliette tried to focus on the screen, on what was going on, but that was difficult when Esme looked fucking gorgeous illuminated by the glow of the laptop screen... She wanted to kiss her, to close the laptop and crawl on top of her and sort of hijack the situation... but she didn't. This was important. She grimaced, seeing someone's skin fitting slightly weird... Something was off about him... What?
"What the fuck was that?" She asked, feeling nauseated as she listened to the dialogue. Alien refugees? Terrifying, that was one of her biggest fears, that the people she knew and loved weren't who they said they were... Esme snorted and leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead, rubbing her hand up and down the space of Juliette's back and shoulder as she kept her eyes trained on the screen.
"An alien. There's aliens." Yeah, obviously, but that didn't make Juliette feel any less irked than she already did.
"Creepy..." Esme chuckled again, lacing their fingers together to rest them together on her stomach as she spoke.
"There's worse things, trust me." Wonderful, that was not something that Juliette would consider to be a selling point, but everyone liked different things... She'd just been clear that aliens were one of her least favorite hopefully fictional creatures... That and zombies, but that was mostly because they didn't make sense, their joints would fall apart from decay if they were undead...
"Oh boy, I love being more creeped out by random things." Juliette said flatly, hoping her sarcasm read through her tone... it did, she could tell from the way that Esme laughed, it was deep in her chest, making it rise and fall in a way that made her smile.
