They hadn't gotten out of the ER until 4:00 in the morning, and Juliette hated that the sunshine was filtering in through the curtains right now... She didn't think that it was fair that she was being roused from her slumber already.
The only positive was seeing Esme sleeping peacefully, their head on her chest, their arms wrapped tight around her waist as they breathed steadily, looking completely comfortable, not even a hint of pain on their perfect features... Her brave girl...
They could feel her eyes on them, she was sure of it, because a moment later they started to stir. Oh. Good morning, handsome...
"Mmm... Good morning, princess..." Esme mumbled, and Juliette smiled, running her fingers through their hair gently as she did... It was nice to wake up next to them, she was glad that she hadn't run away...
She would've just been rotting away in her bed instead, wallowing in self pity at the fact that she'd been such a cowardly fool... Even having those thoughts last night had been irrefutable proof that her father was indeed her father, which made her grimace to think about.
God, he was such a coward, wasn't he? But she didn't want to think about that right now, right now she wanted to take care of Esme.
"Morning." She pressed a kiss to their hairline, careful to not disturb the bandage covering their stitches... It was only six, not too bad overall... They'd hardly even flinched while they were being put in - like obviously the area was numbed, but Juliette had still flinched when she'd had hers done. "We should change that bandage..." She murmured, and Esme furrowed their brows, opening their eyes to look at her... God, they had such pretty eyes... How were they even real? How the fuck was that possible?
"Doctor said it can stay for 24 hours, and they didn't put it on until 2:30AM, I think I'm okay..." Esme mumbled, their tired voice making Juliette's heart skip a beat in her chest... They always sounded so fucking good in the morning, it wasn't fair...
She wanted to do something about the way it made her feel, the way that it made her shiver... But she wanted Esme to be healed first... Plus she knew Gianna was home and she just... Could not deal with that embarrassment... So she'd stick to her horniness, that would be fine.
Also... Esme had the details of when they'd gotten their bandage on wrong, she could remember it vividly because she'd made sure to memorize the time.
"No, they replaced it at 3:30 after they finally put stitches in." Juliette corrected, and it seemed to come back to Esme then as they nodded slowly, yawning as they pulled her closer, clearly not wanting to let her go for even a second.
She couldn't blame them, she'd almost left last night... She had no doubt that Esme was gonna hold her until they simply had to let go, and she had no complaints about that... Any day in Esme's arms was a good one, right?
"Right... I forgot that it was just to stop the bleeding when it started again." They said, and Juliette shrugged, brushing their hair away from the bandage again... Nothing was leaking, they could wait, they were right...
She just wanted to do as good a job of caring for them as they did for her, it was only fair.
"Hey, you've got a concussion, some of the stuff in your head is gonna filter right out." She pointed out, making them roll their eyes. Cute, babe.
"That is by far the most annoying part of having a concussion." Esme sighed, and Juliette nodded... She could remember that, she hated having a concussion for that exact reason, it was fucking annoying to not remember anything.
"Oh, don't I know it." She sighed, and they heard some noise in the kitchen followed by Gianna singing along to something that sounded like classic rock on the radio. Sweet... It made the house feel more cozy... She liked the sound of life.
